I just booked a "Last Call" at the Massanuten resort and was first reminded of the 1-in-4 rule and then told that it didn't apply to "Last Call" or "Extra Vacations" transactions.

Madge or Bootleg, can't remember which person, said the 1-in-4 rule DOES apply to extra vacations at some resorts. The specific example given was Mayan Palace. It was suggsted we call the specific resort in question to see if the 1-in-4 rule would apply. Why that is OUR resposibility escapes me. I think that every resort that applies this to extra vacations, last calls, or regular exchanges should be duly noted in the RCI online resort description page. All it would take is one sentence similar to, "This resort applies the 1-in-4 rule to both regular exchanges and Extra Vacations." I don't know if the rule applies to Last Call vacations.

Last November 29th I held an Extra Vacation for Club Regina Puerto Vallarta on the RCI website. I then called a guide on the 800 number to confirm it. We had stayed at the resort two years previously, and the reservation was for this Thanksgiving week. We were returning at just about 3 years after an exchange we had to the same resort. The guide told me the 1 in 4 year rule didn't apply to Extra Vacations so I confirmed the unit. I took the guides name and even took it with us when we went to Puerto Vallarta. We had absolutely no problems and had a great trip. I think it might apply to the individual resort and to how RCI acquired the week????

pointhound,

In most cases resorts do not enforce the one-in-four rule for Extra Vacations and Last Call. The exceptions should be noted accordingly in the resort profile information. If you know of examples where this is not the case, please send them to feedback@rci.com with TUG in the subject line. The Communications Team can forward the information to our resort liaisons to have the information added.
