We are letting some friends use our exchange here and are purchasing a Guest Certificate for them. Are we able to go within the 4 year period since the other reservation was in our friends name? Thanks.

It's your account that has the 1in4, not your name, and I understand the 1in4 goes across all Morritts resorts there.
 
You could rent from an owner until you can exchange again.
