HGV bHC The District, DC, availability during Cherry Blossom, Best times to visit (not tied to any schedule), Tips to Efficiently Use Ownership

We'll be there this weekend for the kite festival!

Evening spread at The District Owners’ Lounge last night:

There were only about a dozen owners we saw using the lounge.

Pretty standard owners' lounge fare. Except for the macarons...and that's a demerit :)

Cheers.

Looks like you definitely hit the sweet spot @Eric B with the festival, peak bloom and the weather. Looks like some rain is coming in for our arrival. I hope it doesn’t knock too many of the blossoms off. Thanks for the pictures.

Not sure how weather patterns are affecting DC, but Hanami is done here in the Bay Area. We have a small cherry tree and were away in Finland. We could see it on our security camera, and it looked great, When we got back, still some blossoms but moistly leaves. We went to a member event at our nearby Japanese garden and the situation was the same there. Some blossoms, but mostly leaves.

Good luck with an abundance of blossoms in DC!

Cheers.

They forgot to put expiration dates on our drink coupons for downstairs if you want them. We still have 4 coupons for 2 drinks each since we use the Owners’ lounge.

See you Tuesday!

Thanks. Last time we made friends with two of the bartenders, the manager and they didn’t even look at our cards and just poured drinks for us. The District (Embassy Suites) is really challenging with all the food and alcohol they ply on us. Add in we got invited to the Owner Lounge one evening and that just shot our dinner appetite. We walk a lot since the metro stations are some distance and DC is a walking town but usually net weight gain. Look forward to having a drink with you.

I hope you enjoyed it via your camera at least. Our fruit trees have all pushed blossoms really early this year.

A little off topic but ... Do the District rooms have refrigerators? The room description says wine cooler, but I don't know if that's the same thing.

The rooms have wine coolers. They are typically set at around 34 F when you get there and you can take some of the shelves out to use as a refrigerator. They are the size that fit under a counter, ~32" high and 26-20" wide. They also have microwaves, Keurig coffeemakers, a few glasses, and a corkscrew.

So you definitely want to hit peak or before peak. With the wind and rain much of the peak white blossoms have fallen as of two days ago. The pink variety are still going strong.

Yes, the Prunus Kanzan / kwanzan (the pink round flowers) tend to start a bit later, and last longer, then the white blossoms. We have a white blossom tree in front of the house and just bought a Kwanzan for the back since we like the variety of having both.

Cheers.
