We just exchanged into the Surf Club and received a 2 bedroom ZZAA. We have never seen this code. Does anyone know what the location is? Thanks!

Here's a thread that says ZZAA is 2-bedroom ocean-side, and that "Oceanside at the SC is the building closest to the beach- best exchange other than the few OF rooms."

Congratulations on your great exchange.

My 1br exchange says OVTM. Any idea what that means? Ocean View?

At numerous Marriott resorts, OVTM is Ocean View 1-bedroom (master suite of 2-bedroom).

The best way to find out the description of the category you've traded into is to call Marriott reservations, tell them the the Marriott reservation number on your II conformation, and have them add your Marriott Rewards number. You can then see your exchange reservation along with your other Marriott reservations at Marriott.com. (Note: To do this, you need to wait around 48 hours after you receive your conformation from II.}

Just wondering...What did you use as your exchange?

We split our 2 bedroom Aruba Surf Club. Week one we book the efficiency and week 2 we use the one bedroom. We do not care to actually stay in the efficiency so each year we look to upgrade the efficiency to something bigger. We are usually able to exchange during flexchange. It's just a matter of watching for the correct date to match our air reservations. So we traded an efficiency for a 2 bedroom during flex.

How do you upgrade? Just calling II often, especially during flexchange? Can you upgrade online??

To upgrade, I go to the II website every day and often a few times a day during flexchange. If I see something I want and II is open, I hold the reservation (usually you can hold it on line for 18 minutes) and call II. If II is not open and I see something, I hold it with something in the bank until II is open and I can switch the reservation to something that is not banked such as the efficiency ( the efficiency is not banked because we were going to use it ). You have 24 hours to cancel an exchange. Hope this helps. Sometimes you may see an upgrade outside of flex and the process is the same - just grab it!

Just got back from a ZZAA exchange. We were assigned room 4720, 14th floor of the lobby building. Had a sideways ocean view and basically faced what seemed like the service area ( where the dumpsters are!) for the hotel and parking lot of the Ocean Club next door.

I was busy and did not call to make a request 2 weeks out, so not sure if I could had gotten something better, but was not too enamored with what I thought/hoped based on discussions here would be a better view.

When you trade your efficiency to a 1 BR.......do you normally get to stay in the same unit or do you have to move for the second week? I guess my concern would be whether I would get to keep my owned view of OF if I did that.

You will normally be assigned to a room in the specific category indicated on your reservation. I'm sure there have been isolated exceptions to this, but, at MVC timeshare resorts, there's a direct correlation between reservations and inventory.

Even if you have a full 2-bedroom dedicated one week and a full 2-bedroom lock-off the following week, you normally have to move. The same is true if you have two different views, even if the unit size is the same.

If you trade at a resort where you own, there is no guarantee that your view will be the same as what you own. In fact, it's strictly the luck of the draw. That's true if you trade an existing reservation for a larger unit or if you deposit your week with II and ultimately trade back into your own resort.

It wouldn't be worth it to me to give up OF even to get a 1 or 2 bedroom. I'd rather make do with a small studio for the second week and keep my gorgeous OF view.

Thank you for the info!!

I also have a ZZAA code for a room to be used in mid-November, the reservation states that that is a oceanview room not a oceanside room, which is a significant difference.

I have a 2bdrm at Surf Club with code ZZAD. When I look in Marriott.com, its and Oceanside.

I know a 2 bdrm oceanview at Aruba Ocean club is ZZAA. I would assume this would be the same at Surf Club.

Question

What if flexchange? I am a Marriott owner for the surf club and I accidentally booked a studio for thanksgiving week instead of a 1 bedroom and have been calling back about 10x per day trying to upgrade but nothing is available....any ideas?

Are you calling Marriott to change your reservation or II to try to exchange. 59 days or less is Flexchange in II, where even studios can trade for high demand 2 or 3BR's if one pops up.

Check frequently and you may luck out.
