I need to exchange into Orlando the week of Thanksgiving..actually, the day after. I really wanted to try Lakeshore Reserve, but unfortunately I all that's been available is an efficiency. I'm trying to decide if I should take Cypress Harbour (been there before and it's great) or hold out for a 2 bedroom at Lakeshore. Anyone know why there aren't any 1 or 2 bedrooms available and what the chances there might be? Thanks!

good morning...

are you using legacy weeks thru II or DC points...
If the choice is 2 bedroom cypress v. studio at Lakeshore, it is a no-brianer. Go for the 2 bedroom cypress. Cypress is like the hidden jewel of the MVCI Orlando system. Quiet , pretty and comfy!!!

Hello! I'm using an old Marriott deposit from Barony Beach club. I've stayed at Cypress...it's lovely. Just thought it would be fun to stay somewhere new. But, I need a 2 bedroom.

If you need a 2 bedroom then I would book the Cypress week and keep watching for Lakeshore Reserve. If it pops up you can always switch for just the price of an exchange fee. If not you'll have the 2 bedrooms that you need.

Because Lakeshore Reserve is new there must be a lot of demand for it. They have already deposited many weeks with II and I doubt they'll do another bulk banking this close to your check-in date.
Good luck!

If you really want to go to Lakeshore and want to confirm now, you could exchange into the Studio and then do a Getaway for another Studio for $377. This might work, unless your need for a 2BR is because of the kitchen.

All the unsold Marriott weeks are put into the DC system. Not sure if they will let many to into II for exchange.

We stayed at Lakeshore Reserve in August in a fabulous 2 BR premium unit. The lockout is a actually a one BR with a 2 burner cooktop and full size refrigerator. The pool is great with a very long lazy river and 2 slides. You can also walk 15 minutes to JW Marriott and use their pool, another nice lazy river.

Good luck. It's worth trying to stay there.

I have Lakeshore in my string of resorts I search every day and I have seen that week available a few times, two bedroom, checkin Nov 27. It may come up again.

It isn't going to be an easy find. Being Thanksgiving week the 2BR units are never easy to find this close to check in, even in Orlando. The same goes for Christmas, New Years, Spring Break and Easter.

I think that there are several Marriottts that came online at the worst possible time. The timeshare market had collapsed. Lakeshore Reserve is one of them along with Crystal Shores and Oceana Palms. Marriott was able to stop plans for the expansion of MGC and others and also cancelled the rumored new starts at other locations like Mexico.

The aforementioned three that were already started are only partially completed at this time. As with any partially completed resort the full amenities are not there. If construction is still ongoing you have all of the problems of noise, mess and security. I toured Lakeshore Reserve last year and it was in rough shape. In fact, the model wasn't even in a building. It was a double-wide trailer with no second floor pretending to be a unit.

For me I would think twice before going into an unfinished resort that is under construction. We have stayed at several over the years. There have just been too many problems with them.

I know that staying at something new has a certain appeal. However, I'd choose to stay at Cypress Harbour. You know what you're going to get.

When we viewed a model of Lakeshore Reserve it was actually a unit that was built in the main sales gallery at the entrance of Grande Vista. They did something similar for an Oceana Palms model at Ocean Pointe.

When we were there is August, there was no sign of construction going on. Only completed buildings are front desk, 2 five story buildings and 2 two story buildings where the townhouse units are. There are many floor plans at the resort. Not all 2 BRs are the same. You can see the floorplans at the MVC site.

Do you have an ongoing search with II? Or are you searching on your own online? It is very hard to see 2 bedroom units at Lakeshore if you are searching. Those usually get matched to request.

No longer the case

This is no longer the case. The property is absolutely stunning. :)

Does anyone know how far along the property is? Are the pools open? Everything up and running yet? We are staying in Orlando next month. When I originally made my reservations, no rooms were available but now they are showing a one bedroom unit open. It will cost us about $300 more to stay there but I think with a 7 month old baby we will appreciate the kitchen area and separate bedroom for evenings. Our original plan was to stay at the World Marriott Conference Center and hoped to get upgraded due to our platinum status.

I'm here now

The resort is "complete". All the ammenities are here (pool, MAZE, Marketplace, etc) the only thing missing are the Villas! There are only 4 buildings (2 townhomes, 2 condos) so there is lots of room by the pool!

Off to the pool I go!

Just reserved a 3bdrm Townhouse at Lakeshore. I've looked at the floorplan and it seems great but does anyone know if these are ground floor or upper floor units?

How did you reserve? PTS or II?

I used DC points. I also got a 5 day stay at Oceana Palms for DC points also. The only negative I have about the point system so far is that there wasn't any availability at the 13 month mark. It worked out OK because there was plenty at about 12.5 months. The VOA said they expect more availability at 13 months as the program matures a bit. I tend to believe that.

That's awesome with the DC points... I am going to do the same but probably not until late 2011

wow! I didn't realize there were more replies to my post! I only scrolled down and saw the last one and didn't see more. anyway, I still haven't seen a 2 bedroom. I am only searching because my deposit is flex change so I can't put a request in. Which is a bummer! I'm leaning towards Royal Palms for the big shower and the use of the Marriott next door. My 11 year old daughter really wants a lazy river! I believe the Royal Palms is the closest..right? I'm also looking at short change exchanges because we are only staying 4 nights. But, I have to full deposits that are expiring before April..so I'm okay with throwing away 3 nights. Probably won't use them anyway. The other week with be a flex change search for Spring Break!
