As of July 1 2010, parking at Wyndham National Harbor goes up to $17.00 a day. A lot of people complained about being charged the current $11.00 a day. Those headed to Wyndham National Harbor for the 4th of July weekend will be in for a surprise, talk about fireworks. Come to think of it, Wyndham National Harbor just open February 2010. In 5 months time, the price increased by $6.00 per day.

I would stay somewhere with better metro access.

Wyndham does not own the parking garage. Is this just a summer increase? This is one way to keep mainteance fees down and in a points based program can be a pretty good idea.

It also makes the 45-minute "update" a little more enticing because they will pay the parking fees. We held it to the 45 minutes and just said "no.... thank you." If we had been there for a short-stay, then forgetaboutit! Because WYN doesn't own the parking garage, they have little control over fee changes.

Wyndham's La Belle Maison in New Orleans is $25.00/day when I was there Sep 09.

They don't own the parking garage there either; may guests discovered going over to the same garage directly, the daily parking rate was much lower. Of course, they did not have the resort's valets doing the run & fetch but they could load & offload the other members of their party in the resort onsite area as where the valets would bring their car.

The San Diego property Harbour Lights is similar @ $29/day. Most urban locations are going to have high parking/valet fees.

Self Parking In/Out Privileges?

It's not necessarily just a matter of having the valets retrieve the car, but also that the valet parking includes in/out privileges. I am questioning whether they had in/out privileges if they used self parking. When we stayed at SF and San Diego, I looked into parking offsite, and while the daily rate was cheaper if you parked yourself, since that rate did not include in/out privileges, we decided it would be cheaper to valet park. It's my understanding from other posts that in/out privileges are included with the valet parking at National Harbor, but I haven't stayed there myself.

Stayed at National Harbor in April. The $11/day included in/out, because you just had a ticket that was valid for the days you were staying. And yes, it is a parking company running the garages for the area, not Wyndham

Stay at Alexandria....parking is free!!!
Which is lovely and we prefer Alexandria! But Old Town is really REALLY difficult to get a reservation. NH increases availability to the DC area and the beautiful thing is that both can be booked from our internal system. We don't have to rely on trades to get there.
