Are the Royals on track with the in-room WiFi addition?

Can you tell me what the happy hour beer and Margarita prices are at the Mayan? If they get too out of line we'll have to stock up at Walmart.

We'll be there Saturday

Kenny

Sorry, Kenny, but I'm one of those people that buy liquor and make my own drinks, so I'm no sure of the happy hour prices. I'm at the Haciendas this week, though, and Mexican beer prices were 46 pesos before happy hour (lunch). I think happy hour is half-price, no? I would guess the happy hour drink prices are $4-5 dollars, depending on the drink and size.

I buy my liquor at the airport arrivals store. I think their prices are pretty good and they carry flavored rums, which is what we like. I bring down 20 oz. Bubba Kegs and make my own drinks for the pool and beach. Saves us a lot of money!

Enjoy your vacation!

Kathy

Happy hour at the Royal Resorts pool bars runs from 3-7, I believe, and the prices are half of the usual. I believe beer is pretty cheap - the equivalent of around $1 or 2. The pool waiters rely on tips for their income and bring free chips/salsa during happy hour. They also bring you whatever you want from the restaurants at no extra charge (except tip).

Mayan Happy Hour

Hey KWILSON---
The Mayan Palapa is the most fun happy hour for me. We go for weeks 21 and 22. I try to attend the happy hour every afternoon. Even when we move to the Royal Islander. Great bar tenders.Fun group of customers and the ambiance cannot be topped. Try it, I will guarantee you won't mind paying the price.

I know. Been there done that. The only trouble was finding a place at the bar to sit! Right now we are on a plane on our way there. Can't wait

wifi working

We are in our room now at the Royal Mayan and the wifi is working fine. Didn't work last night though. They must turn it off at night.(EDIT) I guess I jumped the gun. Reception is erratic so I called the desk. They tell me the wifi is still confined to the hot spot which is in the restaurant. I guess I am getting fringe reception. I am out on the deck now.(end edit)

Got in too late for the Palapa bar. They close at 10.

We spent well over an hour in line at customs. There were probably close to 1000 people waiting and only 6 booths open. Very hot and muggy. People were fainting in line and had to be carried out.

VERY windy out this morning.

. . .

A few years ago at the Islander the wireless was shut off at around 11PM when the restaurant closed. The next year it was all night at the Caribbean. I guess they need to work out the kinks.

The fainting really scares me, since DD has a cardio-vascular condition that leads to fainting. I wonder if they are accommodating to someone with a medical condition.....she needs to be able to sit down somewhere out of the crowd while the rest of us wait in line.

Arrange in advance to be met with a wheelchair. Those were escorted right past (passeds? Sure is hard to think after 4 margaritas) the crowd.
