Lakeshore Reserve to Disney parks

I can see where Lakeshore Reserve is located on a map but I'm wondering how long the commute would be to the WDW main entrance?

I've stayed at Royal Palms & Imperial Palms and loved the short distance to the Disney parks. I know the other Marriott vacation club properties in Orlando are not as convenient. However next time I would like to try one of the newer Marriotts in Orlando.

Is there a significant difference in the commute time to Disney between Grande Vista, Cypress Harbour or Lakeshore Reserve? Are any of these 3 located close enough to make a difference or should I use other criteria to make my decision?

Thanks!

Lakeshore is worth the drive

The Palm resorts are a bit closer, but if you can get into lakeshore, it is a great resort complex. The drive time to Disney is about 15 minutes.

Any of the new Marriotts won't take more than 10 min from the Palms' complex (which is 5 min from Magic Kingdom). Let's say CypressHarbour and Harbour Lake might take 5 min more, Grande Vista 7min and Lakeshore 10min.

They all are near the Central Florida Pwky, that will give you direct access to I-4. I think it worth trying one of them.

BTW, there's a huge inventory at II of Lakeshore Reserve, including 3bd units, exchange or gateway (2bd for $377 and 3bd for $557). Take a look!

I think that 15 minutes really underestimates the drive time. Sure, it's only about 14 or 15 miles from the Lakeshore Reserve property to the Magic Kingdom parking lot but there are five or six traffiic lights along Central Florida Parkway before you get to I-4. And more traffic lights once you get onto Disney property and before you wait at the booths by buy your parking pass. I'd estimate that the drive time is more like 25 minutes under the best of conditions.

I don't know the exact drive times because there are a lot of variables. Harbour Lake and Cypress Harbour are the closest to I4 so they have the shortest drive time when taking I4. Grande Vista is about another 4 to 5 minute drive. I would also put Lakeshore Reserve at about another 4 -5 minutes out from Grande Vista.

Thanks for the info! Sounds like Lakeshore Reserve isn't as far from Disney as I thought it might be. I can handle a commute of 30 minutes each way. I know traffic can be a problem in that area.

It's not bad but it is maybe 5-10 minutes further from anything south than is Grande Vista and maybe 15-20 minutes from the World Center complex where you stayed before if you go I-drive depending on traffic of course. However, given it's location, it should be as or more convenient to I-4 than GV and really not much worse than Harbour Lakes and CH in that regard and maybe more convenient to I-4 than GV.

Respectfully, none of that is correct. GV is, literally, miles closer to I-4 (east or west) and both CH and HL are closer still to I-4 W that would take you toward Disney than is Lakeshore Reserve.

Maybe it's a little further out Central FL parkway than I was thinking. I was thinking it was about a mile and a half past I-drive on Central FL parkway. That would put it about a mile further from I-4 than GV. I considered that but also the locations in regards to the lights and traffic which seem more favorable to me thus my statement of "more convenient" not closer. YMMV.

While it's true that your mileage may vary, Lakeshore Reserve is about 2 miles down Central Florida Parkway and then about a mile down John Young Parkway from I-Drive. You'd have to go through all of the traffic lights that you'd go through from Grande Vista to get to I-4 plus, I think, three others to get to I-Drive. Not really more convenient either.

Thanks, it didn't look like it was that far off the main drag still it doesn't look like it's enough to make a real difference.

Well, one good thing about Lakeshore Reserve is that it is closer than any other Marriott to Costco!

I'd take it just because of the lazy river, etc. It should be a great new property.

Also, it completely depends on what park you are going to. If it is nearer to Downtown Disney, then World Center or GV/CH/HL are all closer. However, it isn't a bad drive down John Young to 522 which takes you right into Disney closer to Animal Kingdom if you are at LSR.

You can also take John Young parkway to the 429 (toll road) to 536, which leads right into EPCOT.

Just being on the grounds with the JW makes it all worth while. The Royals and Grande Vista can not hold a candle.

Of course, you can ignore what I say, I have only stayed there about 25 times......

Isn't SR 429 the Western Expressway from the Turnpike that enters Disney via the Western Way?

Were you thinking about SR 417, the Central Florida Greeneway?

Probably about the same time into Disney, depending on where you're going, as taking CF Parkway and I-4 if there isn't a lot of local traffic on JYP and you don't have to wait at all the traffic lights along the way to 417.

I can't find any inventory for Lakeshore. I am looking with a platinum Manor Club week. What am I doing wrong?

I think you may have missed it, I spotted a huge bulk banking from this summer-March 2011, including 3brs, with my *wood ski week. No Marriott preference from what anyone could tell.

It's been at least 2 weeks if not longer from when I posted them on the sightings board.

Glad to see you again:wave:

As a native Floridian (former Yankee), I think the opportunity to experience the Lakeshore Reserve would be well worth a shot. There are now two entrances/exits (both with Lights). One is on Central Florida Parkway and one is on John Young PKWY. When headed to Disney, I would suggest to head South on JYPKWY and get on 417 (South) which takes you to Disney via Osceola PKWY (West). Yes it is a toll road and you will pay about $1.75 - $2.25 each way (can't remember) but the traffic is typically 1/5th or better of what can be offered on I-4. Using this Route, you won't notice any difference in the driving distance because the driving is wide open. I-4 access is JYPKWY heading North, get on the 528 (Beachline), head West and the 528 will end in a few miles giving you the option of I-4 East or West.

Also, the Lakeshore Reserve offers access to the Hunter's Creek area and "The Loop" which is a shopping center. Hunter's Creek which is just about 4-5 miles South of LSR will offer a good sized Ale House, The House of Beers (mmm! My favorite). They also have a Farmer's market on Saturday's if you want to get some yummy fruit to snack on. The Farmer's market can be done in no time at all unless you want to make an hour or two of it.

Enjoy!!!

When I search "Orlando" it will not show up. If I use a map search and select all of Florida it does show up, also if I search resort code MGK it shows up.

I stumbled upon it by doing a Spring Break 2011 search(all locations) and found one unit. Then plugged in MGK for dates going out to 2012 and bingo there they all were.

And II is really flukey with these Starwood "marker" deposits we have now and I've had no problem tracking Lakeshore down.

Having stayed in Orlando again 1 night mid Feb and 1 night mid Mar this year, I find this a very confusing city in which to drive -- and really hate all the toll roads. I'm sure I'd take a half hour to get to Disney even if I was only 1 street away ... the highway grid there is very mixed up for one who doesn't spend a lot to time there, like me.

The inventory was released on March 3, it was huge, with 2bd and 3bd, including Christmas and New Year, from June to Jan. Not only for exchange, but for gateways, too.

No Marriott unit was required, so units went away quickly. No much left, just some units (Sep-Dec), few 2bd, no more 3bd.
