This is 2nd time in a row I have deposited a 2br Red 154k deposit into RCI and gotten a non visible. First time I called and they did change it and it worked great. Just got off the phone and got the well it is not guaranteed etc. I think this is just bull how RCI treats Wyndham owners, heck they are owned by same parent company. Think we would get some advantages. I'm ok with the smaller pts but 154k is a lot to give up for a non visible.

Thanks for letting me vent.....................

please elaborate

I'm talking about depositing pts from wyndham into RCI. A non visible means you have to call them for searches you can't do it online, you also get "generic" trade value. Not sure impact of generic trade value has I just like to do my own searches online and not having to call. I deposited a 154K a few months ago they gave me a non vis so I called and somehow ended up with a vis deposit. Well I just did another one and got another non vis so I called back today to see if they can put in a request to make it vis. Just frustrates me especially when you deposit equiv to a red 2br to get a non vis. Hope
this makes sense?

The saddest part of the deposits to RIC is that you can hardly find any good trades. I am really disappointed with the trade value recently. Next time you make a deposit call and request a visible deposit and you should not have any problems.

I did it online and did request a visible, do you have a better shot calling your deposits in? I got an ok trade with my last 2br, it was a DVC studio at VWL but still cheaper for me than renting and a ton cheaper than retail. I also own DVC so it was a little higher than my MFs for DVC but when I figure my buy in to Wyndham was almost next to nothing it was a good value for us. Yeah not the best but still works good for us.

As far as I can tell, it is simply random. But, a 2BR Red should be easy to do. I would call Owner Satisfaction and be the squeaky wheel.

For what it's worth, though, I can imagine some 2BR Red visibles that won't have sufficient trade power for DVC. If this is really your goal, you should consider that Plus Partners upgrade more carefully.

Call Owner Services... I have been told that" this will take care of it..." if that doesn't work...PM me. I may be able to help. My contact emphasized "owner services"

If you are looking for 1 BD, that is about $250 difference each time you make reservation, not to say it has more availability in the plus partnership side. So 10 times will come back. If you do it every year, or 2 week per visit, it will worth the process.

Brian I hope so, it worked once for me when I called. But this time the lady at OS was pretty much saying so sad to bad not going to happen. Not so much just DVC I'm interested in, that is why I want visibles - I like to do my own searches see what is available when. I was surprised it saw a DVC, I don't count on that being a norm. I'm still considering PP but not being able to do my own searches and worried about DVC going to 1 in 4 or some other rule making the program worthless to me. For me a big part of the fun is the thrill of the hunt.......hard to hunt if I have to call everything in.

urple2 if I don't get a visible in my account in a few days I will take you up on that offer.

Again just venting:wall: , I understand hey a blue studio might not be visible but come on a red 2br.......thanks for listening

I totally got lost on this part of the thread.
 How does Plus Partners come into play related to DVC or CWP deposits to RCI?

At this moment, DVC is more consistently deposit to RCI point. And DVC RCI week side deposit usually Wyndham deposit can not get any.

To exchange into DVC (or any high-demand property) in Weeks requires a deposit with significant trade power. Because Wyndham assigns you a visible week more or less randomly, that 154K deposit *might* be assigned to a week that has sufficient trade power, or you might get a mid-May week in Branson. It's a very iffy proposition.

However, if you have PlusPartners, that same 154K can exchange for any 2BR DVC unit in Points inventory, no worries. And, that studio that Culli got with the 154K visible could have been instead had with 70K through Plus Partners.

The trick is that resale-only purchasers do not have Plus Partners unless they explicitly enroll. It's pricey, and the rules for how PlusPartners works could change at any time. So, it's a risk.

Brian I'm waiting for you to bite the bullet and get it all figured out!!!! Actually I think I might just go for it, I have been over thinking the whole PP thing too much.

I'm not going to get permission from my better half to do it. I'm trying to get her to cancel a "surprise" cruise she booked us that I think is too expensive. But, I can't then turn around and spend even more to enroll in PlusPartners, without spending a lot of Spouse Points.

And they say developer points are expensive! Cruise first, PP later!
Spouse points are a better "value" IMO. :p

I wish my wife would book anything, surprise or otherwise.

I feel like I always have to battle to book a vacation. She worries way too much about how work will feel about her taking off and the girls missing school. I think that people should inisting on their time off. The real truth is no one is impressed by people who work late or don't use their vacation. The first or second time, the boss might be impressed, but there after it is just the norm.

I say Vacations are way too important to let any of that stuff get in the way.

She fun on the vacation and has a great time when we finally go.

Totally agree.........I changed my philosphy after my Dad passed a few years ago. I still work hard but I make sure I take time to enjoy life too! My kids have it made, I try my hardest to get our vacation time and then some in every year!

I don't mind going on the cruise---not one bit. But, do we need that large suite and the verandah for just the two of us? It's like buying from the developer, for crying out loud! Heck, I could even go to the ocean view cabin---its not like I'm insisting on steerage.

If it were Alaska, or some other place where the view is the reason you are going, sure, I'm getting the balcony all the way. This isn't that cruise.

In the end, of course, we're going to go on the cruise, in the cabin she booked. For now, I'm content to just fool myself that I might be able to down grade the cabin a bit. :D

Play customer service rep roulette. Keep calling. Ask for a manager. Squeak, wheel, squeak!

Well it worked!!!!!!! I got a grand desert visible. Did a search to see trading power and to my shock it could see Disney:whoopie: So I grabbed a 1br BCV the week before my kids goes to school. Now what to do with that WLV studio I have:shrug: There is only 1 day lag between the two ressies so maybe I will just get a 1br DVC for that day at BCV link them and stay for 2 weeks:shrug:

With the way the cruise industry is now, you may get upgraded(ie higher deck).

When my sister and I looked at doing a New England cruise, the agent said to book the cheapest outside cabin and she was 100% sure we'd end up with a balcony cabin on an upgrade.

How long ago had you deposited your Wyn pts to RCI, and which phone # did you call to get them to wave the magic wand, making that which was invisible now VISIBLE? I want to do that too...I love magic tricks (and I hate my blue Wyn studio deposit being invisible...and hate having to call VCs on the phone who know little about locations.) Thanks...and congrats for getting some magic to work with your Wyn membership!

I called the regular RCI/Wyn number and you have to talk with owner services (or relations). I called the moment it showed up in RCI so pretty much the same day. I don't think you have much of a shot on a blue studio, mine was a red 2br....but it doesn't hurt to ask. I usually try to keep something visible in RCI if I find something I like than call for the blue studios. Good luck.

Culli is on the money. Getting a visible 28K is tough. You're better off depositing a larger unit (I'd go with a 1BR Red), using that to put things on hold online, and trying to reconfirm onto a generic 28K. Note that, unless you are inside 45 days, the 28K isn't going to have much pull at all unless you're looking at very offseason time or shoulder time at over-deposited areas.
