I was able to drive in through the entrance to see the resort but could not walk around due to the heavy construction. There is a LOT of work to be done still. They are saying maybe opening by March but judging from what I am seeing, that could be a small miracle. Nonetheless, the place looks fantastic, the golf course is already there and beautifully lush and green, and the mountain views are almost 360 degrees around you....

Thanks Kath for the pictures. I have been anxious to see how construction is progressing. My DD has reservations there for March, I'm really hoping it will be ready. Did you get to see inside? Is there work going on inside?

You could not go inside at all. There were construction trucks and crews everywhere. It looked like drywall only -- which is why I am thinking there is very little chance that it will be done my March. But you never know....

What good is a beautiful golf course if the parent company is treating owners like c__p? Whoever buys here will end up paying an arm and a leg for that privilege once Starwood is done running the other resorts into the ground.

Dan,

Lighten up! We really do like the resorts Starwood has built, and some threads are quite positive. There's no need to bring everyone down in every thread with what's covered in many other posts.

On the other hand we residents of Palm Desert get to play the Desert Willow courses for as little as 25 bucks, as they are public courses owned by the City of Palm Desert:whoopie:

I like the resorts too - I just wish they would be around long enough for my kids to enjoy...

That said, your point is well taken. As much as the recent events with Starwood Vacation Ownership depress and upset me, I'll try to limit my "Debbie Downer" posts to one a day:D and provide more constructive comments the rest of the time.

I'll be in the Palm Desert area on week 51 and plan to take a look myself :)

I guess you're not a golfer.

No, but I don't mind a pretty golf course view from my window :)

I hear you.

I LOVE golf but wish I could play more often. Part of the reason the MF increases don't eat away at me is because I'll spend that kind of cash on a golf weekend. :)

Great pictures!

I'll tell you, I was not a big fan of Golf at all about 5 years ago. I absolutely had no appreciation for the sport (and it is a sport) whatsoever until that one fateful day when I broke down, rented clubs and went out with some buddys that were just starting as well. Needless to say, I played horribly but I did get one or two really good shots off. That is all it took! Now, I cannot stop thinking about it. What a fantastic sport Golf is.

I was just at the Childrens Miracle Network Classic at Disney this weekend and had absolutely beautiful weather and what a dramatic finish! Great suff.

I'd like to also chime in that I love the resorts Starwood built. I have plenty of positive things to say about the beautiful resorts and their wonderful staff. My complaints are with corporate alone and saved for another thread.

Thank you Kath for the pictures! I will add this resort to my To-Do list.

Thanks for the pics. We now have another great Starwood property to add to our "To Do" list. I doubt that we will make it to Desert Willow until 2011. It should be finished and broken in by then.
