I am taking my new son-in-law on first vacation with us. I have on hold a 4 bedroom unit at Williamsburg Plantation Unit #65

I have read very mixed reviews on this resort. I want this to be a good experience.

Has anyone been there recently and does anyone know if this unit is old or remodeled.

Thanks for any input on unit, pool, grounds, activities etc.

See if you can find out from the resort if this is Williamsburg, Jamestown, or the Yorktown units. Williamsburg are the older units. The 4 bedroom units are 2 separate 2 BR units with one unit having a limited kitchen

I own one of the the Williamsburg units and don't know much about the other styles. The Williamsburg units have one 2BR upstairs & one 2 BR downstairs.

I found the units comfortable, but not luxurious. Only a few units have twin beds, so if you need three beds, someone will need to sleep on the sofa-bed.

It's a basic resort in a decent location. You are not going to get the luxury of a Marriott, but unless you are the type of person that let's the small stuff bother you, you should be fine.

My one pet peeve is that the Master Bathroom is basically a tub/shower, toilet and sink, while the main bathroom has a spa tub and a double shower :whoopie:. I stayed in one older unit a few years ago, that had a dry sauna in the bathroom as well. Needless to say my wife and I used this bathroom as the Master Bath.

There are activities. Some are free and some charge a fee. The pool is your basic vanilla-flavored pool; no slides or "river". We spent very little time at the pool anyway, since we were always out and about in Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, etc. As of last year the only wireless access was in the clubhouse. Not a problem for me, but some people live for their email (and TUG forum :D).

If you arrive around 4 pm, it will be crowded at check-in. Just be patient and be prepared to wait in line.
Send me a PM if you have any more specific questions.

anyone know if 65AB is yorktown, jamestown or williamsburg section

I didn't even know there were different areas I just assumed Williamsburg. Does anyone know where unit 65 is

We checked in to a 4BR unit on July 4th of this year. Arrived at 2:00 and our unit was ready so we were able to get in right away.

There was a common front door and then a seperate door to the 2BR downstairs unit and a set of stairs which led up to another door to the upstairs 2BR. The units shared a washer/dryer on the second floor landing. Downstairs unit had the full kitchen while the upstairs had everything but an oven.

The units themselves were clean and comfortable. No problems there at all.

The pool is too small for the complex and can get crowded. Nothing fancy but it did have a zero entrance side.

The location is good. There's a supermarket and some restaurants nearby. Busch Gardens, Water Country USA and Colonial Williamsburg are all 10-15 easy minutes away. The parks had some good ticket and meal deals on line.

The 4BRs are definitely the way to go and they do not come up often. The resort is probably comparable to others in the area with the exception of the Marriott Manor Club.

Let me know if you have any other questions. :)

I would suggest calling the resort. I can't guarantee you'll get a straight answer, but at least it's a start.
