This is probably a dumb question. But, if you don't ask, you never know for sure. I was lucky enough to trade for:
1. Friday to Friday: 2 bedroom and 1 bedroom
2. Sunday to Sunday: 1 bedroom

We invited more family because the 2 bedroom gave us tons more room than needed. Some family is planning to spend the last 2 nights in a hotel. Any chance of asking the front desk staff to swap the entire Sunday to Sunday week for 2 extra days in the 2 bedroom? That would be plenty of space for the entire party and avoid splitting the family the last 2 nights.

Please don't laugh too hard. I know the likely response is "no." But, has anyone ever tried anything like this? This is for Maui so I suspect the slow HI travel industry moots the entire issue.

No, they won't do that.

But assuming this is a II exchange, I'd watch II for a friday-to-friday week. If one comes up, you can swap your Sunday-to-Sunday for it by paying the extra exchange fee.

Which hotel ? There is no "Marriott" hotel in Maui

I'm talking about the Marriott Maui Ocean Club timeshare. But, there also is a Marriott hotel in Wailea on Maui

Actually, I have plenty of room Friday to Friday (I have a 2 bedroom AND a 1 bedroom from Friday to Friday). I'm looking for a bit more space Sunday to Sunday (where I only have a 1 bedroom).

In short, I have 3 weeks at the Maui Ocean Club and I'm wondering if I could horse trade one of my weeks for an extra 2 days in the 2 bedroom. The only help I could get from II would be to swap my Sunday to Sunday 1 bedroom for a Sunday to Sunday 2 bedroom (very unlikely as it is almost a miracle that I have the 2 bedroom that I already have).

I suspected that the resort couldn't or wouldn't make that sort of a trade (although a full week in an ocean front 1 bedroom is clearly worth more than 2 days in a garden view 2 bedroom, but those are the breaks when trading timeshares and I'm definitely not complaining).

I just thought of something else. If another timeshare owner or trader wanted to trade we'd both be there at the same time and could simply swap rooms by adding eachothers names to our reservations. Would that work?

I tried something similar at Ko'Olina a few years ago.

I had a week on an exchange and needed a couple of nights prior to the week. I also was planning on leaving the unit a couple of nights before my week ended. So I made a rental reservation and then asked if there was anyway they would let me check-in 2 days early, if I departed 2 days early. The response was no, they won't alter your exchanged week.

So we rented for 2 nights and then moved into our weekly unit.

A stretch, but an idea

Is there a place on the web where someone could post the possibility of trading nights with someone while at a timeshare? I am concerned that this might be viewed as trying to sell an exchange. So, maybe I should just drop it. But, it is not that farfetched to think that someone could have a 2 bedroom garden view that they'd be delighted to trade two days from for the use of a week in an ocean front. I'm not giving out dates in hopes that this isn't viewed as an ad which I know is against the rules here. Thanks for any ideas.
