I have a spring week I need to rent. For my last rental, I went the cheap route with craigslist, TUG, and vacationtimesharerental.com free listing. I got a few responses from craigslist, 1 from VTSR, and lots of hits but no takers on TUG. I'd like to increase my chances for the spring rental and have decided to try one of the pay sites in addition to the free ones.

Which site do you like - Redweek or vacationtimesharerentals?

Thank you for your input!

REDWEEK!!!

Redweek

I have had good success using Redweek renting my units.

I would list it on both - to reach the greatest number of people. In this economy there are more people renting out their weeks and fewer people traveling so you want as much inexpensive exposure as possible.

I use TUG, Redweek, Craigslist, and Myresortnetwork - all cheap or free. I used to use Bidshares - which is free, but I had no luck there.

An alternative suggestion...

Neither, having used both. In my own limited experience in renting out weeks for family members, MyResortNetwork.com (same cost as RedWeek) has markedly outperformed both of the above. VTR, although free, has been all but useless. For the record, I have no affiliation whatsoever with any of these identified sites, I am merely answering the question directly and specifically, based upon my own personal experience.

Different sites often have very different success rates depending on the property you own. A quick test is to look at the other ads for your resort- if you see broker ads there- it may be a good indication that resort pulls well in that venue.

I have a feeling that even-though the week I want to rent is a good one, with the economy in the toilet, it will be harder than normal to rent. That's why I'm pricing it aggressively. I want to keep as much of the money as possible, so I'm looking for the best bang for the buck. Thanks for your input!

You have given me another alternative. Thanks!
