Hi

...plan to go to Busch Gardens Williamsburg Howl-O-Screams Special
Halloween Event this Friday & Saturday...

I may be up there this Friday- will pm you once my plans are worked out... recommend you plan to arrive EARLY in the day. Last Friday wasn't too bad, but by 4:30pm, parking and crowds were really increasing. Returned on Saturday at 1pm and they were already parking in the overflow lot across Rt. 60. When I left at 4pm, the preferred parking lots were already full and closed out for the night...wall to wall people.

If you are spending a long day/evening in the park (most Howl-O-Scream events are after 5pm), you may want to consider preferred parking for two reasons: walking proximity to entrance and not waiting for a tram in the evening closing/exit crowds. Also, be prepared for Saturday to be VERY crowded. The park is now experimenting with a special pass purchase, where you basically jump to the front of the line by paying more money (not available online, purchase inside the park gift shops...cannot remember if it is $20 or $30 more per ticket). I'm not a fan of the new program, but it is something to consider if you have limited time at BG during this crowded period. These special passes cannot be purchased online, but in the park. Also, if you do not have tickets yet, recommend buying online to avoid the time you'll spend waiting in-line at the park.

We were there the first Friday night for Howl O Scream....had a BLAST. Just my wife and I...kids are all in college:)

Anyway..check out the McDonalds on Rt 60 (other side of williamsburg). They had 8 bucks off coupons on the placemats. We bought our tickets online at a discount, but not as good as 8 bucks.

We're going Oct 16th this year. Can you tell me if the operating dates for Howl-O-Scream are the same next year? The reason I'm asking is because we were thinking of buying a one year pass before we go. Since the pass is good for one year from the date of purchase, I'm wondering if I'll also get to use it during next year's season of Howl-O-Scream.

It's only speculation but it is safe to conclude that mid September to the weekend before Halloween it should be operating...

Yankee Candle

This was our first visit to
The Yankee Candle Store

Some of the fun thing`s to do here is to watch
the Clock Show located near the indoor fountain
and blue painted sky in the center of the store.

Check out the Halloween decorations
(jarred preserves) and the snack bar.

Visit the Christmas section with handmade
decorations, train gardens and falling snow.

One of my favorite items was a weather vane
that goes on your house roof. It was a bronze
looking Horse that points in each direction.

FYI - The Yankee Candle - is
Williamsburg`s Flagship Store
Located on Route 60
2200 Richmond Road
Williamsburg, Virginia 23185

If you are buying a season's pass, it should be good thru the end of the 2009 operating season (11/1/09 I believe), not just one year from date of purchase. They should be running that special online now- buy your 2009 pass and get in free the rest of 2008.

BG just changed their policy on all season passes to be active for one year from date of purchase.

Jeni,
I actually think it's a good thing, especially for the platinum passes. It will be nice to be able to get a pass at BG this April/May that I can use the following winter/spring at Sea World, BG Tampa, etc.

Oh, you're right- my mistake. Just went to their website and saw the change...what a bummer!
