I wonder how my exchange is going to turn out.

I am an Starwood owner, elite level, but going to WKORV via an II exchange.

I think you should have the resort note the fact that you are an Elite owner on your reservation. I think I'd call the resort directly. I believe it will make a difference.

Doesn't sound good for us. We have a Sunday check-in and will be arriving late at night. I guess we'll just expect the worst and hope for the best.

Are you a II exchanger?

Yes. I'm also a *wood (resale) owner, but since I'm not elite I don't think that will help much. At least we are going low season (December).

I would still get it on the record and ask for a nice view - it's free to ask!

I arrived here (WKORV) Sunday night and was given a room in building 2, 2nd floor almost to the far end away from the beach, facing the North property. Because this was almost the same view I had last time I stayed here (building 2, 4th floor at the far end from the beach, facing North) I asked if there was anything else available, facing the pool.

The two women at the front desk were very helpful and checked their computers for about 5 minutes. They offered me a different unit, building 3, 1st floor, facing the pool. I took it because I liked the idea of a different view. I can see the ocean through the trees but it's not a great ocean view. If I had paid for ocean view, I'd be disappointed with this unit. But for an exchange I'm very happy!

I'm very happy here and have been treated extremely well. No problems with customer service! I booked this week through II in early Aug. during Flexchange.

This morning I met a very unhappy couple. They are owners of 2 weeks and think the property has really deteriorated since they purchased in 2003. They complained that their unit is dirty, fridge smells terrible and furniture is showing a lot of wear.

I think many people buy a timeshare at a new resort and hope it will always be maintained to look like new. Unfortunately with time these units will show wear and tear.

You are approaching your exchange with a great frame of mind! We don't expect an Ocean front room. But I hope we get a decent room. Regardless of the view, we are still very happy with our exchange.....after all its Maui!

I did contact them and ask for ocean or pool view. Anything but the parking lot is okay by us. I have followed discussions and reviews of WKORV on and off for a couple of years, so I was never expecting a good view. My bigger concern is that they don't have designations such as "clean" or "smelly", so it's hard to request a non-smelly room. (We have a child with a very serious medical condition and a smokey room as was described in the linked thread would not do for us. An employee coming into the room to spray air freshener would only make it worse.)

Checked out on 9/28

Hi all!

I don't post much, but I usually lurk just to keep on top of my *option management.

Anyhoo, DH and I are 3* Elite Owners with two EOY LO Island View Deluxes at WKORV and an EY Silver LO at WMH. I booked my 1Bed September 21-28 week in April 08 and then modified it in June 08 to book the week using the "pay 5 nights' *options instead of 7" promo.

Because we have IV, DH and I don't usually rush to book our week as we do not need the time stamp for ocean view. We normally "request" highest floor possible and upgrade to oceanview if available. They put our "requests" in the notes with no guarantees.

We were given room 3602 as building four (lots of IV units)was closed for cleaning and renovations. Our room was a dedicated 1bed oceanview. There was some noise from the restaurant below, but we liked the sixth floor view. The front desk gal offered us another choice of rooms, which would have been in building 3, but on the first floor. IMHO, the first and second floors get too much noise, aren't high enough for a good view, and aren't private enough.

FWIW, our unit was clean and serviceable. Not immaculate and brand new, but a solid B.

Quirky things:

We did have a mid week clean, but it was done in the evening when we were out to dinner. We were expecting it during the day.

There is a large amount of furniture haphazardly "stored" in the parking garage at North. DH saw it coming back from Sansei and thought it weird. Is this the cheap way to store the building 4 furniture? Can anyone verify?

For us, we thought we had a good room. We weren't exchangers, and I'm sure that our 3* helped a little even though we didn't have any timestamp advantage.

HTH!

I don't know, but the furniture was there in July when we were there.

Hope the rest of your stay is awesome.

There is also a bunch of appliances stored in the parking garage under building 3.

I had a problem last night with my fridge. It was leaking water from the freezer into the fridge at a steady rate. I moved things around so it wouldn't damage anything and then let the front desk know of the problem. It was around 10 PM and I didn't expect them to get it fixed that night, just wanted them to alert maintenance to take a look at it in the morning.

I received a call from maintenance in about 20 minutes and they said they could come them. A gentleman came promptly, determined the ice buildup was blocking the flow of cool air into the fridge and fixed it right then.

I'm here on an exchange, and this problem was handled very quickly. It makes me wonder about the owners I talked to yesterday who said they'd been having problems with their fridge since Saturday and couldn't get Westin to fix it. I think some people let small items ruin a great vacation!

Just wanted to report that I've been very pleased with the resort and customer service!! Aloha!

I attended an owners update session in July. They told us that construction of all the buildings at WKORVN is complete, however, they complete the interiors at a slower pace. I assumed they complete the interiors as unit weeks sell and booking demand increases. Anyway, the furniture and appliances are for those unfinished interiors at WKORVN.

Very strange that the room we checked out of has been available to you but not available to us. We even mentioned they didn't have to clean our unit if we stayed there.
