We have a week reserved in Honolulu for mid-June 2009. I just check the airfare which is $1000 pp, do you think the price will decrease or would this be a good price? I remember paying $850 three years ago and I only paid that much so that i could get on the same flight as my family who got tickets via FF miles.

Has anyone had any luck purchasing HNL summer tickets during a certain time of the year?

Peter Greenburg was on the Today Show this morning. He said airlines usually lower their prices 31-45 days prior to the travel date as long as it isn't a holiday period. You might check HNL for this time period now and compare.

Good Luck!

Now, I know this was 2 years ago, but the main principle could still be useful.

In July 2006 our family of 3 flew from Denver to HNL for $342/pp. (We did a multi-island 16 day trip). Fly mid-week if you can. I started planning the trip in October 2005. When I would check prices they were always $600-$800. I placed a FareWatcher Alert on Travelocity and let them email me when the price of the ticket dropped below $500. Between October and January they sent me several emails. I would say, probably once a week. But summer dates were never available.

Finally on a Sunday morning in mid-February 2006 (about 5 months before I wanted to fly) I got an email and when I checked dates, all of summer 2006 was wide open and available. I was nervous to book - 5 months out is a long time - but was scared I wouldn't get prices this low again. So I booked it. I went out to lunch and came back and checked the link again in the afternoon. June, July and August were GONE. The cheapie flights had sold literally within hours. It's that quick.

I think the FareWatcher Alert on Travelocity is great. I still use it. With the money I saved on airfare I was able to stay an extra two days in Maui - loved it!!!

Now, I wouldn't expect to pay $342/pp now, two years later, but you never know! Sign up for the FareWatcher Alert and be ready to jump when you get the email! And check your email a lot!

Did you know that keyboard are very cheap to replace - you can pick one up at
Walmart or anywhere and just plug it in.

Actually, I kind of like the messages!

One other temporary workaround: use your mouse/touchpad to select and right-click "copy" a single space character. Then you can just do a <ctrl>-v to paste that space between words as you type.

...or use a keyboard macro program to map another key to insert a space.

I've heard good things about autohotkey, which is free. I don't use any keyboard macro program, so I'm just passing along hearsay.
