do you think my Christmas week Marriott Desert Springs/2 bedroom
will pull a Marriott ko olina beach club/2 bedroom between July 1,2009-august 15,2009?

is it true, the MKOBC owners like off their units and deposit with interval?

if Yes
should i try to trade my (1) bedroom lock off marriott desert springs
for a (1) bedroom MKOBC

does that make sense, more (1) bedroom avaialbe than (2) bedrooms
that were deposited by Marriott ko olina beach club owners with interval

It has been discussed that most Hawaii owners (but not all)lock-off their 2BR units before depositing.

Trading a 1BR for a 2BR here will be difficult and you CANNOT put in a 2BR request with II using a 1BR as a deposit. Your request can NOT exceed your deposit.

Added:
You can always get a 1BR and then if a 2BR shows up during Flexchange call II to make the change. It will probably cost you $99.

Shorty after Ko Olina opened in 2003 I was able to get a 2BR exchange using my 2BR Cypress Harbour unit. Back then there may have been a surplus of units deposited with II by Marriott to get prospective buyers into the place--just a guess. If so, it may be a harder trade today, however, more phases have opened up so more units should be available--it's hard to know the exact situation.

Assuming most owners lock off their 2BR units, an alternative might be to lock off your Desert Springs unit (I'm assuming it's a lock off) and submit two exchange requests then if both come through you could probably get the front desk to put you in side by side unit effectively giving you the 2BR unit you're looking for. It will cost you the extra II exchange charge, but if it gets you what you want, it's a small price to pay.

Good luck.

I got a 2BR trade into KoOlina for next July, but gave up a 2BR in return. They are available, but just not plentiful.
