BAH--HUMBUG--Pahio Shearwater

Bah, Humbug, bull sh**, and balderdash !!!!

I happened to look at the e-bay auctions (Hawaii), and there was a listing of a Pahio Shearwater, EVERY year, for a total cost of about $1050 annual maintenance fees for this year, and $325 for closing costs.

THAT WAS IT !!! No other fees/expenses.

When I "clicked" on it, of course, it was "gone". Guess I was a "day late, and a dollar short" !!!

My wife tells me we don't need anymore timeshares, BUT, if I could have gotten that one, I'm "sure" she would have "understood" !!!

"DA*N" !!!!! (What holds water back.)

Tony

I know how you feel. That's happened to me and it's such a disappointment.

I see that someone bought it and got the seller to end the auction early. Just curious what they took for the week at Shearwater. Drop me a PM and let me know if you don't mind. If you tell me what you bought it for I won't post the sale price, I am just wondering how bad I should kick myself for not shutting up and buying it myself.

It states that the seller ended the auction early and there were no bids. It was not necessarily sold.

Okay, so it was little ol' me that bought it. I believe she had lots of offers, but I offered more, so she ended the auction because I don't think she had any intention of waiting for the end of the auction. I told her she could keep the auction going and get the bid up higher, but that was not her mindset. She just wanted to list it, and she wanted to sell it quickly. I saw it at least two hours before I sent an email.

She has already been on TUG, looking at PAHIO's ROFR issue here. TUG is a great place for information! I told her that PAHIO will try to take the week from me. You never know, maybe they will get by with it this time. I don't think they will, but this is a Shearwater.

Funny. When I first saw this thread, you were the first person I thought of, it being Shearwater and all. I was about to warn Tony that you better not hear of it first.:hysterical:

Marty, my love of Shearwater is well known! You were right to think of me, as I love that place. :)

I expect we will get a huge assessment after staying there this past March. The place really needs some work because the units are looking very worn out, and the exteriors are just awful. Housekeeping is pretty bad, too. I still love the bedroom furniture and think it will stay, but the living and dining room stuff is in need of replacement because the "wicker" or rattan, whatever it is, is very stained. No amount of recovering will fix it.

We gave son number 2 and his new bride a week at Bali Hai in November. That's near Shearwater isn't it?

Marty

Congratulations. I would have fought you for that week in 2007, but I promised my wife no more Hawaii weeks until (if ever) flights become reasonable again. I sold all 3 of my Hawaii weeks and promised to not buy any more for at least a little while. Then I see what I have tried to buy for several years, an annual 2 bed room at the Shearwater. I almost broke my promise to my wife, but instead I let everyone here know about the listing and never made an offer (she is very lucky I had the willpower). I was hoping someone here would get it. I know that you saved thousands over anywhere else you could buy an annual week at the Shearwater. I hope you can stop the crooks at Pahio from trying to ROFR it. What a great buy!

Congratulations, Cindy.

I hope that ROFR doesnt slow you down.

Im having such a hard time not going to ebay and looking. Now with flights it makes sense to stay longer.

I can do that :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Tombo, thanks! Maybe another great deal will come your way when airfares go down a bit.

I already wrote my letter to PAHIO, and so did the seller. The ROFR does not apply to this purchase was the answer from PAHIO. So it is a done deal. :whoopie:

Yes, it is very close. Bali Hai is a nice resort. Have them ask for a new unit when they arrive because they are MUCH nicer than the older ones, although they are refurbing the older buildings and units. The new ones are not very close to the pool, but they will be very close to the new pool, if they ever finish that new pool at Bali Hai.

Actually, you should call about two weeks ahead and ask for a newer unit and tell them it is their honeymoon, so you would like it to be special. That will do it. :)

ROFR is no problem, thank goodness! I was so hoping we would skate through this one without any hitches. A letter from each of us did the trick. :)

Thanks for the advice. We'll do that!

Cindy, how many timeshares in total do you have now? You have definitely caught the "timesharing bug"! ;)

Judy, I am selling 3 of them, plus I rent some too. We get all those AC's for Foxrun, so it is even worse than it looks!

We do have 3 grown children that all vacation at least two weeks a year, so they use a lot of our weeks.

It's a first-floor unit, not a penthouse. I do know of someone who bought a penthouse for a great price.

Congratulations Cindy. I'm glad it passed the ROFR and that your letters did it. Thanks to Tombo for the post and I'm glad a Tugger got it!!!!!

Yeah. Another mark for this great website.:)
