We are set to make our first Harborside reservation at the 12-month window with our Phase 2 floating unit. :whoopie:

My concern is that we will be on a Caribbean cruise from June 23-28, and the dates that we are considering for check-in next year are June 26, 27, or 28.

If we cannot call to make the reservation until June 28th of this year, will all of these check-in dates still be available for 2009?

We don't have a lot of floating week owners who post here. I've never seen anyone comment on the ease of making reservations for phase 2 -- you might be the first!

My guess would be that you will not get that week if you wait until the 28th, but I hope I'm wrong. Do you have a friend or family member who could call for you? They ask all the standard stuff (name, address, phone number, email) to confirm identification -- you could give that to someone who is willing to make the call for you.

Please let us know how it works out.

This is not good news... I guess I'll just hope for the best and go with an alternate week later in the summer if it doesn't work out.

Could I make a reservation for the week before and then cancel it and reserve the week of the 26th in the same call a week later? The week before would be our 2nd choice.

My cell phone (Verizon) has worked everywhere on cruises ... that's an option too.

There is a $29 fee to change a reservation, but that's not much if you consider it "trip insurance."

Calling for Harborside

As an owner at Harborside Phase II, I was confident that we'd be able to get the week in June that we wanted since we own in that season. Now, due to being out of the country on a cruise, I will not be able to call until the Sunday date of the weekend that we wanted to travel next year. Will it be unlikely for me to get a reservation for a Friday check-in date if I can't call until the Sunday date of that weekend?

I posted before that booking the weekend before is a less desirable option, but I may consider it and then cancel later if the following Friday is in fact open.

Any experience trying to reserve at (12 months - 2 days) prior to your vacation date?

give someone your info to call starwood on the day you need to make your reservation. i did that this year, i was on an airplane.

Pretty sure the $29 fee is only if you are reserving within the 8 month window (ie, the StarOption period). I have changed reservations between 12-8 months plenty of times and never been charged.

I have also never been charged the $29 and have been an owner for 7 years and changed my reservation many times in many windows (even 1 week out once when my son had the chicken pox). I think it is there to scare people from making changes.
