Pacific Wings for interisland flights... anyone with recent exper?

Looking to book a flight from Honolulu to Maui in July. HA will cost about $140 more than Pacific Wings Express (2 adults, 3 kids). Is it worth the extra cost? Any recommendations or suggestions greatly appreciated!

Are you up for an adventure? It is a small aircraft that seats about 10-20 people and very noisy. However, they fly low and slow and you might get to see more of the islands. I assume that the $140 more is for all five people and it is not worth the extra cost unless you are looking for a little fun. However, if anyone doesn't like small planes, than forget about it. The three kids might enjoy the SuperFerry and the cost on that is a lot cheaper than flying. However, it leaves Oahu around 6:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and twice a day only four times each week. So, their schedule may not work for you unless you are staying overnight on Oahu and traveling the next day.

If you're staying in West Maui, you can probably get a flight to Kapalua airport, which is a lot more convenient than Kahului (OGG).

We got a reservation at the Schooner in Mauai. Having never been to Mauai, which airport would we fly into?

I think the priority should be on which airline to fly. If you want to fly on Hawaiian or GO, then you are flying to Kahului. However, Pacific Wings and Island Air also fly there. If you are up for flying on a smaller plane and their schedule meets your needs, than fly to Kapalua on Island Air or Pacific wings.

However, Kahului is less than a one hour drive from the west side of the island and it is a nice drive. If you are staying on the south side of the island, it is a no brainer, fly Hawaiian.

Flew with them in April. No problems. I liked it. Felt more like a site seeing trip that you'd pay much more to do.
With kids you'd probably be better with Hawaiian though. The waiting area will be better with Hawaiian and more convenient.

Kahaluli...Unless you're up for an adventure. It is about 15 min. without traffic from the resort.
