We are staying at DSV II right now and went to the spa yesterday at the JW. Since I like the spa so much, I'm very tempted to purchase a getaway sometime and stay at DSV I with the complimentary spa privilege. I really like this bonus feature.

While at the spa I asked for clarification if anyone staying at DSV I could use the spa facilities for free and she said yes, but the contract was expiring in 2009 and Marriott wanted to start charging any DSV I owners and guests for using the spa. I'd have to imagine the DSV I owners would be pretty upset about this. Do they have any leverage? Has anyone heard anything about this? CathyB, did anyone ask about this at the recent HOA meeting you attended?

Just curious about others thoughts and info.

The Spa Contract: yes, the General Manager brought it up -- she indicated they are presently in discussions/negotiations with JW to continue the Spa privileges. No final answers as of yet.

Janna,

Planning on leaving work a little early on Thursday and hopefully coming in the early evening. Maybe we can get together for a few minutes on Friday and chat. I will send you a pm.

Without the spa privilege, were you to do it over, would you purchase phase 1 or 2?

I would still buy at phase I because I like the wide away vistas you have from the condos here and you are in walking distance of the hotel. Phase II is built in clusters so the views are different but they have cathedral ceilings that the older units do not have but they still give you a very spacious feeling plus the fireplace looks nice in the winter. It is mainly for looks because hardly any heat comes out in the room but it feels cozy and warm.

The MDSV-I were the first timeshare condos the Marriott built I was told and they are the largest units too. This may have changed over the years but I have never heard this yet or read it here. The maintenance fees are a little higher but you may pick them up cheaper because there is no ROFR.
