In Virginia, the Clerk of the Circuit Court handles the recording of land records. So there is no "register of deeds" or "county recorder" as you find in most other states.

There is an additional problem, however. Unlike most counties, James City County lists the owner as being the Condominium Association (such as Manor Club) for all of the weeks. To find your week, first click on "I Agree" at the bottom of the screen. Then choose "search by pin number" from the column on the left side of the screen. If you own at Manor Club, then type in: 314070____ (in the blank type your villa number...such as 1620).

This will bring up the assessor's information on your Manor Club villa, but it won't show your name or a copy of the deed.

I wanted to check if my deed had been recorded....thanks for the info.

The county you need for your deed is York Co., VA.
WRONG - most are Williamsburg - James City County. So much for the atty.
Steve is closer to the truth.

Pat,

What resort did you purchase in Williamsburg? While it's true that York County borders on Williamsburg, most of the timeshares in the area are in James City County. Kings Creek Plantation might be in York County, but all of the resorts on the west side of town...including Manor Club...are in James City County.

You can call the clerk of the circuit court, as Joe suggested, and ask about your deed. They may or may not be willing to give you any information. It often helps if you have the pin, or tax id, number when you call. I'm sorry that the information is not readily available online like it is in many counties, but there is no uniform standard for land records and websites.

Sorry, I'm right because I knew which resort.:cheer:

LOL, yes, mshatty is not psychic :ignore: - he knew where I purchased :whoopie:

It definitely does help to know the resort! Unfortunately, York County requires a person to pay $150 and fill out an application in order to search land records.

Likely, that's more than you're willing to spend to find out if your deed has been recorded yet. :)

So, while this thread has been fun, we haven't been much help for you. Hopefully your ownership will be in your name soon.

LOL, noooooooo - $150 is a bit much to pay just because I am impatient and want to see if my deed has 'made' it  but I appreciate everyone attempting to help me.

Thanks
