Gift Card and Platinum Visa Card

Clarification.... if I purchase a Marriott Gift Card from the Marriott's website and use my Marriott Platinum Visa Card I'll get 5 points per dollar? So purchasing gift cards through 12/1 I'd be earning 15 points per dollar basically?
