We sat in yesterday on a sales presentation at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club on the Las Vegas Strip. Nice presentation not high pressure. Sales prices were 10,000 points for $43,900 and 5000 points for $21,900.

No, we did not buy.

I'de wait abit. You will be able to buy an entire condo for $43,900 on the strip soon! I hear nothing is selling in Vegas now.

$5600 for 5000 points

5000 points in vegas(Flamingo)just sold on ebay for $5600. I dont think Hilton has ROFR there, do they?

I've traded into the HGVC at the Hilton, the HGVC on the Strip, the Grandview, and the Fairfield Grand Desert using RCI Points that cost me next to nothing. Sure you will have more choices and greater preferences if you spend the big bucks, but the six timeshare weeks I use to bang around with cost me a total of $6,000 and got me into Vegas every time I needed to be there for conventions, etc. So why spend the big bucks if Vegas is where you want to go. Now if you want to buy HGVC Points to use at HGVC Resorts in multiple other places, maybe....

GEORGE

The only reason in response to George having spent more $$ for our points than he did for his collection, is flexibility. HGVC offers one of the most flexible systems in the industry. NOT that I paid retail for HGVC, but we did spend more than $6,000 for our two weeks with them.

George however makes a great point. Durring the big convention I attend each year in Vegas, I've taken to renting the HGVC Hilton rather than using my points. Mostly this is because I get reimbursed for rental. I can only imgaine trying to explain to the bean counters why it's in their interest to pay the MF fee's (let alone taxes, a percentage of the purchase price...) instead of renting. <g> We bought it for us...not to use for work. <g>

There's nothing wrong with Georges approach at all, so long as exchanging through RCI gets him where and when he wants to go.
