Maintenance fees???

You'd have to pay more for your maintenance fees I'd imagine due to the discount that Visa/MC/AMEX/whomever would take as a part of every transaction.

Similar to your home mortgage.

Credit Card

I was told 3 %. That is what the credit card co's charge the resorts. So if MF is say 1000.00 you pay 1030.00. You have to see if the points you receive will be worth it.?????

Depends on the resort. One at which I own does not charge the additional 3%. It was discussed at our last annual meeting and decided that the fee was worth the option, especially for the delinquent accounts.

If you own FF points, you can enroll for automatic payment via credit card, fee-free. You have to call FF financial, though to set it up---no web site option, and the only on-line form is for checking account auto-debit.

I paid my WorldMark fees with a credit card over the phone with no added fee.

Most credit card agreements with vendors (that would be the resort) state that they cannot add a surcharge for the use of credit cards OR discount for cash. While the second one is sometimes ignored the first is usually enforced. The CC companies don't want people to avoid using the cards due to fees imposed. So at worst you should pay the full amount billed - but no more - if using a credit card and at best, maybe, get a small savings if using cash (check). Most lilely it will be the same cost to you both ways.

Wyndham charges no surcharge for credit card payments. All resorts (HOAs) take visa and mastercard. Some also take amex.

Call 800-225-3522 to pay your fees by credit card.

I pay the ones that do not charge an add on with credit cards, the ones that do, I pay with check.

Worldmark does not charge a fee for using Amex. The Costco Amex card pays 2% back for select travel items, those include timeshares, hotels, and airfare.

Doesn't the TripRewards credit card allow you to build up points to pay maintenance fees? Although I'm not sure how many points it takes.

Also, when we recently sat in an "owners update" presentation, the representative mentioned that Wyndham may be changing their maintenance fees to a flat rate across all of their resorts. Has anyone else heard anything like this?

I believe you need to refer some friends to take the trip and maybe buying from them (since they sometimes will forget the whole refer thing) in order to be able to use the point to pay MF. The conversion rate for point wise is just 2.1/1K Refer a friend who will buy will get more, but on the other hand, you may loss a friend.

As to flat fee across all of the resort, 1. the MF is defined by each POA, 2)since there are a lot of old resorts that not all the units are in their system, it will be close to impossible job to do. Besides, at this moment, they believe one of their best selling tool is the new resort has much lower MF, you think they will give up on that?
