I have one rotating week with MROP, last night I got a call from them asking how I liked the reservation system, They then told me they were having a meeting this Friday night at a Marriott Courtyard in Laguna Niguel, Calif and I was invited. They wanted to introduce members to the new resorts that would be added this coming year. They stated they were adding 40 Plus resorts. I asked if these were VRI resorts and they said yes. I told them I would go to the presentation and then at the end of the conversation I asked how many people they expected and they told me they were keeping the groups small and only about 7 couples would be attending. With such a small number of people attending I'm guessing they are going to try selling something. Has anyone else been invited to a meeting? and if so, what did you get from the meeting?

They have called me several times but I have sold my membership. I thought someone had said it was a pitch to sell RCI Points conversion.

Went to Presentation last night, There were suppose to be four couples, but I was the only one that attended. You are correct this was a presentation to convert to RCI points. They wanted $3,900 to covert the rotating MROP to a VRI ownership. They would only give 24,000 RCI points per year with an incetive of a (one time only) two additional certificates for 20,000 points that I think had to be used within 2 years. My understanding is that I would no longer own the MROP membership but rather a VRI membership and I would have 24,000 RCI points per year from that point forward. The maintenance fee would be somewhere around $450 per year.

WHAT A RIPOFF!! $3900, they have got to be joking. I think that is the highest I have ever heard. I only paid $199 to convert my week in Australia.

Any MROP points conversion is a rip-off. I think you get less than 40,000 points for an all red week. You can often get a tiger trader in MROP and those would be better than getting the 40,000 points that you had to pay to get the conversion in the first place.

Boo, Hiss, Vri

I complained bitterly about VRI allowing Wroman to rip off Sunburst owners. VRI pleaded innocent, and implied it was the HOA board of Directors that decided to do it, and wroman was providing a valuable service.

This is clear evidence that VRI is to blame. I've been a lukewarm supporter of VRI, but I can't stand this sort of ripoff of the owners.

The Spring 2006 MROP update letter announced "MROP has now contracted with Wroman to introduce the MROP Members to the RCI Points Program."

So yes it probably is Wroman and it may be unfair, in this instance, to blame VRI.

Maybe yes, maybe no. All I know is when VRI took over ORE, my ORE Resort, Sweetwater Lift Lodge in Park City either dropped VRI or VRI dropped them. Either way the net result is (1) that Sweewater Lift Lodge is now part of Trading Places, and (2) that I immeidately donated my Lift Lodge Week to a charity (And yes I am totally off the hook. The Week has already been deeded to someone else).

The representive I spoke to may very well have been a Wroman employee, I do recall that he stated he was a respresentive of VRI. At the time I mentioned a resort that is handled by VRI and he did not recall the name of that particular resort and I thought that was surprising. However at no time did he ever mention that he was representing Wroman. The presentation was simple, he realized I knew a little bit about RCI points and I think it was clear to him there would be no sale and he kept it short.
