Carlsbad Trip - Please Help

Planning a trip to Carlsbad, CA staying at the Carlsbad Seapointe Resort. Two senior couples--late 60's to mid70's. What are some of your favorite restaurants? We want good food, hole in the wall restaurants are fine, not white table cloth type restaurants, prefer non-chains, and any cuisine. We'll have a car. Thanks

Are you only looking at lower priced hole in wall or open to others? Your request is very broad. Pizza, steak, drinks???

Thanks for asking. Any cuisine, drinks, etc. We are open to hole in the wall and others, just not looking for high end, fancy dining. Probably not steaks, easy to do at the resort and we make pretty good ones. Pizza, Italian, American, Thai, Mexican, etc. are all good.

If you drive north to CB Village Drive there is Village Faire kitty corner from Carlsbad Inn Timeshare, has several restaurants and stores. We enjoyed the Taste of Himalayas lunch specials. For dessert try the Love Gelato a couple of doors down.

For Pizza we enjoyed Pizza Port further up Village Drive, it's a brew pub, try a sampler of their brews.

Oceanside has a Thusday night market with many food trucks and other vendors. The live music at the stage was the school of rock kids playing clasic rock.

We went to a place in Carlsbad near the Ocean. I think its called the Village. There is alot of shops and restaurants. We wandered the area just to see it. We grabed some gelato or ice cream which was pretty good and thats about it. If we ever stay in the area this Village might be where we hang out.

Downtown Carlsbad has several dozen restaurants ranging from casual/reasonable to formal/very expensive. State Street has many of them, as well as Roosevelt Street. We live in South Carlsbad and a near-by favorite is Casa Di Bandini (Mexican).

My in-laws were very fond of Norte Mexican, or as they called it, “Fidel’s”. It’s at 3003 Carlsbad Blvd, Carlsbad, CA 92107.

2nd for Pizza Port on Carlsbad Village Drive (CVD). Very casual, order at counter, but very good pizza, (baked not fried) wings and great beers. Sit upstairs on the patio for a cool breeze. It will be packed on weekends. Knockout Pizza is more NY style on 101 just North of CVD.

For a quick bite Roberto's Taco Shop has been around forever (Just South of La Costa on 101.)

We've been going to Fidel's in Solana Beach and Carlsbad (now Norte's but same restaurant, split off family ownership.) Lunch special (entree and beer) is good, but we primarily go for happy hour and get tacos or ala carte burrito. Always on the back patio by the Carlsbad Inn pool.

Of course. Also you probably know but Costco is just up the 5 off of Palomar Airport Rd. Great place to get meat.

Our favorite Italian restaurant in the area is Venezia, on N Coast Highway in Oceanside. Have to go once each trip.
