Banned from attending WM Sale Presentations

So taking a free gift to attend a sales presentation you go to with no intention of buying is not deceit? I would expect nothing less from a Padres fan.

Welcome to my Ignore list.
This is the very definition of marketing. Sometimes you get a bite, sometimes not. The bait is the free gift, I still don't understand the issue here.

Of course his comment makes no rational sense. If the requirement for attending a presentation was that you intended to buy, they would have no need to offer an incentive to get that person to attend. But I guess he has something against the Padres since we swept his closest baseball team. :ROFLMAO:

Think about it and it will. You are on their ignore list for some reason or another. Probably has nothing to do with a timeshare presentation, lol.

I'm totes taking my TUG tote to my Wyndham presentation on Friday.....what happens if they try to ban me from the one we have scheduled for MB in June, LOL?!? If they ban me then, I'm okay with that. I think we've been put on a list with Marriott, too.

We have an appointment next Wednesday (4/29) for a one hour "Membership Review" for a $400 Mastercard. (Not at a Wyndham resort)

So, they'll review our membership, find that it is deficient in one or more ways, and propose a way to fix it, which we will decline.

Not at all, the entire premise to get you to show up is "We will give you a Gift to come listen to us" that is NOT deceit, is compensation for taking time out of your vacation to listen to an "Owner update" it is NEVER stated as a "Sales Presentation" (we all know the truth) but they lied first so NO its not deceit.

Fully acceptable.

Fact is, There is never enough COMPENSATION for the hell an "owner update is". I have stopped Going myself, but 3/4 vacations start off badly NOW because some jackass at the front counter cannot tell the Difference between asking and HARASSMENT.

Las Vegas World mark is always a bad experience to check in 50% of the time I have to raise my voice or walk away, last time I simply said "I have said NO 2 times, before you ask again please call the duty manager so I can file a Harassment complaint".

the Girl said "Fine be that Way" and I said Fine I will and I snapped a picture of her and sent it to the World-Mark BOD complaint email.

Correct for the salesperson. They are the ones getting harassed by me. Getting them to lose their cool is far better than $300 or $400. A great way to start my vacation. Maybe that is why HGVC banned me in Las Vegas. They want nothing to do with me.

I find it amusing when the young sales person who doesnt own a membership trys to explain how we should use our membership better. After 25 years we kind of have it dialed in.

Its also interesting when an older sales person who knows how to manipulate the wm system slips up and expains just enough that I know what they are doing.

We aernt banned but most wm presentations we attend run less than 30 minutes. I do tell the sales person that Im not going to buy anything but Im willing to hear an update of resort news or features.

Last Hilton Presento I attended, the closer told me I would be banned from future ones because I clearly told them I was not buying, EVER. Three months later I started getting offers again to “Come on down” even though I have never owned a HGVC membership. Even get an occasional Marriott one. Credit card ownership seems to be the common thread.

$100 to $300 for a 3,4,5 night stay plus sometimes $100 gift card makes for a nice relatively cheap vacation, even with 90 minutes of bafflegab.

This thread is too funny. GriftersRus should be a new thread? Maybe the timeshare sales "representatives" call us grifters??? The vast majority of HGVC points we have were purchased directly at HGV (resale mostly) so maybe that's why they still get so excited to "update" us. But we do intend on buying and converting all our HGVC points to MAX Elite poombah status as soon as they give us enough incentive (including price and benefits) to do it. They don't come close ... maybe some day they will. But they don't call it a sales upgrade meeting ... they call it an "Owners Update." And we just love practicing our negotiation skills and getting more out of them to hear the next "update." The sharp ones ask if we have any questions, answer those, and then send us on our way. The less than sharp ones bloviate in circles, don't answer or ask the right questions, and spin themselves into a frenzy sometimes. It's actually entertainment. When the 60 minutes is up, bling bling our phones go and we say thanks and goodbye. No need for drama and no need to be mean.

As far as the Padres go ... I only ask that you please beat the Doyers more consistently and if possible keep them out of the playoffs. Thanks.

Exactly JohnnyO. I would absolutely buy direct from HGVC if matched the prices I can get resale contracts. I have given them the opportunity to sell to me but they aren't coming anywhere close to the price I might bite at. When they do I'll be there ready to sign.

Too funny ... they are a rough crowd at Elara and run a rough system there. I feel for the poor sales weasels (well at least some of them) but the management eats glass for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and they show it. Getting them to lose their cool isn't that hard. Just check your pockets and be sure you get what they promised before you leave the check out desk.

That should be on our t shirt for presentations and updates. "GriftersRus" in bold letters on the front and "only here for the booty" on the back. Maybe a business card because its easier. :ROFLMAO:

I did feel bad for the woman who was trying to sell us. HGVC records are terrible. She thought that we had bought the Elara platinum contract direct for $49k. Wasn't until an hour into the sales pitch that her supervisor/closer came over and showed her that we bought resale for $4k. You could see the life literally drain out of her. She was so defeated. I loved every minute of it.

I consider these salespeople to be just a step below an outright scammer, if that. I find it comedic that people defend them and somehow think we should not take the money they are handing out to school them.

For one to express that they believe that "taking a free gift to attend a sales presentation you go to with no intention of buying is" deceit is downright scary. Who could think that way if they are not the salesperson themself?

Absolutely. When anyone complains I take advantage of them and have no intention of buying I respond back that is completely false. If they match the resale price I will buy. Not my fault they are price gouging.

My friend and I, both WorldMark timeshare owners, have been banned from attending sales presentations at our favorite WM resort. When we check in, they never ask us to attend the sales presentations. When we ask about attending a presentation, we are told that our accounts are "up to date" and that the presentations are only for those who need help with "managing their accounts". We both have a lot of WM credits (24,000/25,000 each). My friend even bought 6,000 developer credits from this resort which we attend regularly. She owns 11,000 travelshare credits. I'm a resale WM timeshare owner. But it doesn't matter which of us has made the WM reservation, we are told that we cannot attend. We have always attended the presentations and enjoyed many great gifts in the past (wine & bites pairings, wine tastings, gift cards, etc.), but now we are no longer eligible for these gifts. Has anyone else experienced this?
I purposely stopped going to those presentations. All they want you there for is to buy, buy buy.

Glad that you enjoyed it, so did I. Thanks to you and everyone else who replied to my thread.

What did you expect them to do?

Of course you would buy. You just have to tell the sales staff the price that make you sign. For me if they match the resale price I will purchase from them.

They have tracking system and when they know you are just going in for the gifts with no intention of buying they stop offering. Promos are for potential buyers. They had big basket full of wine etc for my daughter; she’s only 18 & went to Disneyland with her besties from HS after graduation. All they knew was that she’s a guest on our account. When they saw her they asked if she wanted a free soda instead and skipped the “presentation” spill and gift basket. Need to be 25 to qualify.
