We closed on a 150 pt VGF contract last December, which was supposed to have 11 Apr 2025 UY points. We didn't pay MF on them because we thought they'd be useless to us. When our contract showed up in our account the 11 points had been banked into 2026. Still pretty useless to us because we had no trips planned for this year. However... where there's a will, there's a way.
The purchase of that VGF put us over a $75000 threshold annual spend for our Chase Sapphire reserve... which gave us a $500 SWA credit.
To use our StubHub credit associated with the CSR, we bought tickets to a Paul Simon concert in Atlanta in July and are staying overnight to avoid driving home late. I wondered if I could maybe use that Southwest credit to fly to Orlando from ATL, since we'd already be there- yes! RT tickets for 2 were $471.
Next: Are any DVC reservations available for the cost of 11 pt + 24 OTU points, 35 points max? Yes! 34 pts, 2 nights savannah room studio at Jambo.
So: we used our 11 freebie VGF points, purchased Membership Magic Beyond ($99) + 12 OTU points ($270) + got 12 free + booked two RT tickets from ATL to Orlando for $369 all in.
Now we have a two night resort only quicktrip to Jambo where we shall laze around the pool and do not much of anything. We arrive MCO at 9:10am, should be able to hit up Blizzard Beach for free (I think, are they still doing that?) on day one. Then two pretty full resort days because our flight home doesn't depart until 7pm. No rental car, no tickets, all Jambo.
