Long Wharf Sales Pitch

It’s still nice there in September. You’ll have a good time. Belle’s across the street in the ship yard for breakfast, lobster shack across the street for a lunch (check their September schedule), you can walk easily just about anywhere or take the hop on hop off RIPTA trolly to the mansions from behind the hotel if you don’t want to drive (although all mansions have free parking). The indoor outdoor pool will be lovely in September - and still warm enough to grill.

Enjoy your stay ! .
Yes we consider Sept and the first half of October shoulder seasons for beach areas round these parts. Probably less so up that way - but it'll still be warm enough during the day to walk around without worrying about freezing to death LOL.

I am not that far from you. It is not beach season in October on the Jersey Shore/ NYC beaches LOL . But to each their own.

Shoulder season at the Delaware beaches and OCMD extends well into October in our area. Many places remain booked up solid through that time of year in fact. Perhaps not as many people actually on the beaches or in the water, but plenty still staying at the beach during shoulder seasons.

IDK about the "Impossible to book with points in June" but I was able to book pretty easily mid June at Long Wharf with points for a 2BR and could have booked a 3BR if I'd wanted to back then.

I stumbled on a 2BR the third week in August at Long Wharf. Right after a week in Stowe, VT.

One must be persistent, relentless to get a summer week (late spring/early fall) in Newport. The rest of the year, Newport is likely to be cold with a biting wind. The chowdah is still good though!

I was commissioned in Newport in December 1967. I was playing french horn in the band. Our last parade was held in near freezing temperatures which seized up the horn's rotary valves. Hard to play a horn when the valves are stuck.

We've been to Newport twice in October, staying for two weeks and a few days. We had very nice weather both times. Although staying for that long we must have had rain at some point. In 2023 we stayed until the 16th and the year before maybe a few days later than that.

I haven't planned our fall trip yet and was thinking we might want to go back. This was our view of Narragansett Bay staying at the Inn on Long Wharf.
