I'm curious. Is tugbbs traffic lower this year? It just seems much quieter around here this year vs. the same time last year and prior years.

Could be that we are aging, slowing down and traveling (timesharing) less. I know we are. We are down to one ownership and honestly are just using one (points) exchange a year that we used to get 2-3 weeks per year from. Some of it, I suspect is from a devaluation of the points, and some can be explained by travel by other means- cruising, having a second home, visiting grown offspring.

When we bought into our (resale) timeshares, we were both working and used the TSs as a valued break, and the whole, getting maximum value, was a bit of a hobby. Now, not so much. We can go wherever, whenever we want, so fitting into the 7 night- starting Friday schedule isn't as attractive.

While it might seem like less posting in the forums, Tug is pretty active regarding internet forums. There are over 3 million posts in the forums. There is only so much a person can talk about regarding timeshares which makes Tug kind of unusual in the amount of activity it has. The demographic here is probably an over 50 year old timeshare user. The social media resort groups are gaining in popularity.

I agree with Jim about the "we are aging" comment. I think that most of the regular posters here are between 50 - 80. There are over 129,000 registered members. Over 30,000 Facebook members. Over 5000 YouTube subscribers. Regarding forum activity, it's a small number of members doing most of the posting considering there are over 129,000 registered members, imo.

That is a lot of traffic for a TS brand topic

Yeah, that was and is a popular thread as it impacted a lot of owners. However, most of those posts came after January 2025. I am more looking at a comparison between, say, first quarter 2025, prior years and first quarter 2026. It just seems quieter around here this year. I also don't read the Wyndham forum anymore so perhaps that is why I am perceiving lower posting volume, but still, that traffic about closing resorts didn't start until July 2025.

You could check simalarweb to see the traffic to tugbbs.com. Interesting is tugbbs.com is ranked 623 just below expedia at 622 if I'm reading this right.

Well, I'm a bit under that 50, but I wouldn't be surprised to see skewing older here for a number of reasons. First is timeshares in general is a smallish percent of the population, I think around 13% and then of those, how many are techie at all to go online and talk about them? And then using a specific forum - I think if you weren't online in the 90s through 2006ish, you probably aren't that familiar with standalone forums, unless someone else introduced you or you're techie enough to seek out non "platform" spaces.

Then once you're past all those filters, you have to be interested enough to really get into getting the most value and be someone who likes interacting in this sort of format. Plenty of owners don't use their timeshares, and plenty just go to the same place yearly, plenty more just book whatever the points show for where they want to go. Just like not everyone who might use X is into couponing, or things like "the points guy" credit card points, so they many are at best on here if they have a rare specific question.

no significant change on an average that I can see. 300ish posts a day are pretty constant with large peaks and valleys well above/below that...

Thanks for the chart, but it doesn't really go back far enough to show a year over year. It would need to be January 1, 2025 through current to really see how it compares to the same time last year.
