New scientific paper: offshore wind turbines alter marine eco-system, could shift ocean currents

This is a question for Carolinian ? Have wind tunnels every causes a massive fish kill. That causes massive fish to be found on beaches in Europe ?

I’m searching for some information. Please Tuggers be kind with your posts.

There have been fish kills in Europe from wind farms, but as far as I know all of them happened during the construction phase. The most well known massive fish kill happened in the UK, back when it was still in the EU and incurred a million euro environmental fine from an EU agency.

Well, the courts are at it again with wind turbines. This time it is a landmark case from France where a French court in Strassbourg has held wind turbine operators and related defendants responsible for impairing the physical and mental health of a retired teacher living 750 meters from the wind turbines from the audible sound, infrasound, and flashing lights.

Yep, these activists courts sure come up with some kooky rulings.

If you want to have reliable power in extreme weather conditions, Brett, that change should be a big concern.

Thank you sharing that piece of information.

I posted a link about this case a while back

The rumor is the judge is being looked at for ruling on the plaintiff's behalf
Splitting the fines and fees with the plaintiff and plaintiff's attorney

Can you show me what Natural Gas Power Plants are scheduled for retirement
Your links are always to garbage news

Coal plants being retired are beyond their useful life

Any comments on the Mercury build in the waters of your home state now that you are posting again
Or are you just going to accept the fact that coal and coal fly ash have created extensive amounts of Mercury build up in your state

As usual, you post rumor while I post fact. There have been similar rulings by courts in a number of countries including Norway, Ireland, Australia, and even the US. I have posted links to many of them.

Well, if you don't like the source of the article, here is the actual full report from the agency involved:

Premature retirement of coal plants is the climate alarmist agenda, both here and in Europe. In NC, that was the goal of legislation pushed through the General Assembly on behalf of Duke Energy.

You, and especially Brett are the ones with the highly biased news sources.

One of the people living in our area was able to pick up a grant for solar panels on their barn. I think the grant paid about 75% to 80% of the cost. They produce more electricity than they use and get a check from the power company for the extra. Other costs were they had to install a new barn roof. This year my brother in law is trying to build a storage shop with solar panels and do the net metering. No grant but he expects that the net metering will pay for the shop and panels.

As usual you haven’t read past the headlines

Couldn’t answer a question about the contents under any circumstances

Thank you for posting all these activist judge rulings. I agree these judges should be stopped. Keep them coming.

Here is an environmentalist organization fighting the environmental degradation of the climate industrial complex:

As usual, you are a knee jerk supporter of the climate industrial complex.

It is funny how someone that is for wind farms are often totally against having them in their view. They look terrible , imo.

Some interesting statements from the reports
Blair's think tank is funded by the Middle Eastern Countries supplying Natural Gas to England

Blair, whose thinktank works for the governments of petrostates including Saudi Arabia, says the government is pushing up energy prices by pursuing firm targets for commissioning clean power regardless of how much it costs.

Similar arguments have been made by the Conservatives and Reform UK, who have promised to drop the UK’s central climate commitments should they come to power. The TBI says it supports the government’s ambition to hit net zero by 2050.

Last month the government commissioned 8.4GW of offshore wind, which it said put it on track to meet the 2030 target, at an average price of £60.25 per megawatt-hour (MWh) – a 50% rise on the prices paid in 2019.

Ministers say the price compares favourably with what it would cost to commission new gas power,
but the TBI report says that gas prices are unusually high because of the war in Ukraine and will fall over the longer term.

I guess the claims that Natural Gas Prices are going to fall in the future is an argument used by Natural Gas producing countries
No validation based on their past performance relating to pricing of Natural Gas

The UK has oil and gas that the current government refuses to produce for ideological reasons, primarily in the North Sea, but also proven shale gas on land. Now there are signs that the current government may cave in to common sense and allow more North Sea oil and gas production. Norway has not stopped exploiting its share of the North Sea oil and gas fields and that is the reason that Norway has no significant government debt but has a healthy sovereign wealth fund.

Russian imports impact British fuel prices only because their government is not taking advantage of the UK's own energy resources, due to ideological reasons.

That's typical NIMBY, and applies to many things. "Oh, I don't want an ugly cell tower in my neighborhood", and then in their next breath, "Why do I have such terrible cell service at my home?"

Maybe more so with 100s of wind turbines than some cell phone towers. I dont have a problem with cell phone towers. Where I live they blend in often looking like trees. I cant see any wind turbines from where I live either.

Cell phone towers do not shed microplastrics like wind turbine blades do. They do not kill birds, bats, and ;insects like wind turbines do. They do not produce harmful infrasound like wind turbines do. There are reasons that courts in multiple countries, including the US, have been finding them to be actionable nuisances against those who live around them. It is more than just the fact they are ugly.
