Construction at BeachPlace Towers

When we checked in on Friday, the person at Preferred Check-in said 98% of the oceanside villas had their balconies covered, but that turned out not to be true. From what I could see, none of the balconies were covered. There were, however, two columns of living room windows that were covered with blue plastic. I'm not even sure they are still covered. It doesn't look like it in the photo. They are painting the facade a new color. Here's a photo I took today:

There's scaffolding all around the pool area. Yesterday the pool was closed "due to construction" but it reopened around 4:30 p.m. As a result, there was a run on beach lounges at the beach and they ran out. The 19th floor lounge is open, but not the outdoor deck. I would have liked to seen the view from that but maybe another time.

Perhaps when they said they were covered, they meant covered from the inside (with the blue plastic)? Still not 98%.

The new color is an egg white and not blue. Correct

Blue seems like an odd primer color, if cream is the final color.

I'll take it as a positive you are not complaining about the elevators, parking garage or spring breakers. I see the portable safety barriers up on the streets indicating the college kids have arrived which means traffic must be horrible at night, particularly trying to get out of the BPT garage.

I have not found the elevators to be an issue except during late afternoon (i.e. check-in time). Otherwise, we barely have to wait (we're on the 11th floor), I'd say less than a minute each time. We have no problem exiting the BPT garage at any time of day. I don't see why that is considered an issue.

Even the spring break crowds aren't much of a problem. The two blocks south of BPT are bad in the evening with kids crowding the sidewalks and bars such as Senor Frogs and Elbo Room, and blasting music onto the sidewalk, but if we want to walk south (i.e. Coconuts or Marina Village) we just cross the street and walk on the beach side and/or walk on Seabreeze Blvd. There is a heavy police presence around here - motorcycles, dogs, horses, you name it. BPT has strict rules and procedures to keep spring breakers out of the resort. The only thing I dislike about this area is the traffic. It takes twice as long as it should to drive from BPT to anywhere. There are so many stoplights and cars, and if you mis-time the bridge, you could be stuck for 10 minutes or so.

I was expecting the worst and all of us were surprised at how nice it has been. I wouldn't hesitate to come back here again, even during March. The villas are beautiful - everything looks shiny and new. We just came from a week at Grande Vista where our villa was dirty and looked run down. It was the worst I've ever seen MGV.

I am with you. BPT has such a negative reputation on TUG and it’s way overblown in many ways. I really enjoyed my stay there and will definitely go back sometime soon!

I also like BPT, been there many time and would not hesitate to go back. We will just avoid it during Spring Break as the street closures and traffic make it difficult at night to drive. I sometimes spent 30-45 minutes getting out of the parking lot because you're not able to get out onto Cortez because there were so many cars on Seabreeze to the right and Beach Blvd. to the left. Glad you are not experiencing those problems this week but it does happen often in these months.

BPT during spring break it just liked bike weeks in Myrtle Beach, SC.
There are just crowds of people just hanging out on the main streets along the beachfront. IMHO

Glad you are not experiencing those problems this week but it does happen often in these months.

Cortez has usually been blocked off from Beach Blvd so when you come out of the garage you have to turn right onto Cortez. There is a traffic light at the corner so there is no problem getting onto Seabreeze.

I took another picture while at the pool today where you can see the blue plastic over many of the windows. But there did not see to be anything covering the balconies or their sliders. Actually, some folks were out on the balconies.

We had a wonderful stay there mid April last year with 4 adults and 2 kids. The staff was great, the villa was very nice, beach lovely, loved that we could walk so many places. Of course, a bigger pool would be nice, especially as our home resort is Barony in Hilton Head with multiple large pools. No issues with parking or the elevator (and we were on the 19th floor). I would go back as well.
