Hello, as a new resale owner of Hyatt, I am still trying to learn all the intricacies and acronyms of ownership. My 2026 points will hit my account next month. Can someone tell me how Hyatt points trade within Interval? I searched the Hyatt forum for the previous two years and only see posts regarding the devaluing of Hyatt within Interval.

I own a diamond week at Windward Pt. Can I deposit a portion of those points into Interval?

Is there a way to search Interval to get an idea of how many points I may need to get a property I am interested in?

When I log into Interval, I only see the Getaways. When I click on exchange and search a destination it brings to a page that shows the week I own with Hyatt.

What is the best strategy to trade into the Hyatt Maui (my points reset in April)?

I would be interested to see how many points I would need to get a week at Marriott Crystal Shores in Marco Island or maybe a week at a resort in Hawaii.

Hyatt Platinum locations have to be booked through Interval?

Thank you in advance.

What you found related to the devaluation of Hyatt in II probably has a partial chart that shows what each resort costs to trade into based on TDI, unit size and resort designation (Elite, Premier, etc). Unfortunately I don't believe II has published a full chart and the only way you can see the points required is to initiate searches through the website. Even their initial online chart you can see when starting a search isn't complete. At least it wasn't back when that discussion was happening.

The MVC on Marco Island is a tough exchange via II simply because of the relatively low level of inventory for there that goes into II, so the best thing to do is to set up a search and also check manually as often as you can, as things can slip through the matching process. Similar, but not as bad for the MVC, Sheraton and Westin Hawaii locations.

Assuming you own a deeded week and not a Portfolio Points ownership, your Diamond ownership gives you 2200 points, as per the following chart:

Within Hyatt, then, you might be able to trade for any week anywhere in the Hyatt system depending on availability. Including other weeks at Hyatt Windward Pointe. If you decide to exchange into Interval International, your 2200 Hyatt points become 2200 Hyatt Interval International points.

And I assume, based upon what you're saying you're encountering within the II website, that you first have to bank your points in order to see what exchange opportunities may be available. For example, had you been able to check the II website about a week ago, you would have seen the Marriott Custom House 1 BR in Boston Christmas week for 750 points. If you had grabbed that, 2200 points minus 750 points equals 1450 points for you to use elsewhere.

If you do an II exchange, you won't see anything in the Hyatt system. In effect, by using II, you will have decided NOT to visit Hyatt. But you can visit Marriott, Disney, etc.

Hyatt has a bunch of jargon telling you in what status your week might be depending on the dates. Within six months after your points are added to your account, it's in the Rumpelstiltskin status. But thereafter it's in the Snow White status. You can memorize all their status names (LCUP, shmell cup) and dates, or just call Owner Services to find out "by what date" you need to decide to do something. Owner Services has always been readily available.

Actually, the more I think about it, you SHOULDN'T have to bank your points in order to see what's available. If you're unable to see available weeks in II, you should call Owner Services. Something's not right.

You can waitlist 18 mos out. We have had success booking Maui with this. Also don't put your points into Interval until you find what you want . You won't get Hawaii from interval , that's an internal exchange

To the OP: One small clarification. You CAN get Hawaii via Interval. I remember seeing many tens of Hawaii resorts when I explored around my Hyatt Interval International account. But you CAN'T get Hyatt Hawaii. Your Hyatt Interval International account will never show you a Hyatt anywhere.

I personally don't like Hawaii but to each their own.

Good catch, yes I was referring to Hyatt Maui. We have found Hawaii resorts in Interval at Marriott, Westin and Sands of Kahana . Inventory changes often and goes quickly so you needs to be ready to grab them when they pop up.

So to answer your question a little more directly, when you log into the II site, you can search getaways for a paid vacay, or you can search exchanges. When you select exchanges, it takes you to the page where you have to select the property you want to use for the exchange. If you have 1 Hyatt deeded week, the week will be displayed. If you have more than 1 Hyatt week, it will display them, so you can decide which week you want to use your Hyatt points from. After you have selected the week you want to draw your points from, there will be a points chart. I just select the highest amount of points on the chart so it shows me all availability (although tbh I'm not sure if it makes a diff), and then Interval will display the available exchanges, if any. From there, you simply proceed with the booking and when you finalize it, Hyatt deducts those points from the points you have available. You don't have to "convert" them to EEE, if they are eligible for EEE.

Doubt you will ever find Crystal Shores on Interval. If you do it will be a fall week (hurricane season) or possibly a last minute exchange. Would guess Hyatt Maui would be very tough as well. Interval used to be pretty good but just not seeing as much as I used to.

This is very helpful. When I get to the TDI chart, what do the different tabs mean, and which one should I be using? My choices are Affiliate, Premium Elite, Preferred Residences and Select. It defaults to Premium Elite.

If I plan to only deposit say a 1000 points, is that the corresponding number I should choose on the TDI chart?

No. Always search using the maximum number of Hyatt International points which is, as you know, your full 2200 points. You'll see for any availability what your potential exchange "costs". Could be 750 points, could be 1950 points. Each potential exchange listing will tell you what you'll need to give up in order to make that specific exchange. Sorta like checking prices in Amazon.

By the way, Interval International does not know how many Hyatt Interval International points you may have available to use. II does not keep a running tally of your points balance. Hyatt does. Interval International will initially allow you to trade into a 1950 point exchange despite your only having 300 points left. But, afterwards, it will check with Hyatt, find out you don't have enough points to make your desired exchange, and then cancel it.

And if you haven't yet seen a Hyatt Interval International page, here's what they look like. There WAS a June week available earlier. Too bad I didn't get to it before it was taken as there may have been a different price for it:

Here's another Hyatt Interval International page:

What's nice about Hyatt Interval International pages is that you can see how Hyatt (or more likely Interval International) "values" each resort. Other resorts in Hawaii, apparently not deemed to be "good", have even 1 BR stays which "cost" 350 points.
