Are any Aventuras owners able to see availability after October 31st ?

I didn't see anything. I searched for a few variations (7 nights), as well as 2 nights and made the check in date flexible. I checked dates in October, December, January (2027), and February (2027)

Thanks. It looks like there is some kind of cutoff of 10/31. This is more than 8 months out, so it isn't the VSN booking window. I do see availability when trying to book the property on Marriott.com for November. Wonder why it can't be booked using Aventuras HomeOptions, perhaps something related to the sale. I saw a comment on Facebook about the buyers to be adding two new restaurants.

It will definitely need more restaurant capacity as an all-inclusive. People are a lot more likely to eat on site when they've already paid for the meals.

Certainly. I suspect they will want to add some kind of poolside bar and grill. More of a walkup grab and go kind vs. the bar they have now where they serve people. If they retain timeshare units, I wonder if they will also keep the gas grills that is out back by the lagoon side pool. Perhaps they will also add a bar or restaurant to the beach area on the lagoon. That place was pretty decollate when we were there. Though you really can't swim in the lagoon.

There is already a bar on the lagoon side, but it is empty. They could easily start using it again. They used to give their cocktail classes there, and before that it was the bar for the people using the lagoon side. Great sunset views, but just not enough customers laying around drinking.

That’s a huge devaluation. I wonder if they will eventually terminate or break up Aventuras, if they even can. I believe the Westin Resort Cancun was held outside of Aventuras and not technically owned within the Aventuras trust but Aventuras was given reservation priority.

It is a big devaluation, but I suspect they probably also looked at owner and in network occupancy. I suspect owners booking with Home and StarOptions was pretty low. When we were there we didn't talk to anyone else who was a timeshare owner. They had all just booked cash through Marriott.com or other outside travel agent. I don't think owners were beating the doors down to get into this property. Most prefer to go to The Westin Lagunamar. I suspect they opted to cut their losses and move on. The 10 year timeline for Aventuras is probably just an olive branch.

This sucks because as a Kierland mandatory property owner I was able to book here, but not anymore.

Not sure I see the huge devaluation if you are an Aventuras owner (as I am). 10 years is a long time and I probably won't be able to vacation by then anyway. It isn't clear what they are doing about AI though, and I am unable to make my usual January reservation. I have an "update" this week at Los Cabos, so I will quiz them, but the normal answer is "we don't know yet". We had an update at Lagunamar in January 2026, and somehow they failed to mention this development. I'm sure they will spin it as positive. Wish they would put the money in Puerto Vallarta. I agree with others that most of the current customers are from Marriott, including more than the normal number of employees who must get a great discount for a long weekend. Everyone I chat with seems to be a Marriott (hotels) employee.

I realize that the preview gallery at the Westin Resort Cancun takes up a lot of space just off the main lobby. Will Royalton need that? Do they sell vacation packages for their all inclusive like some of the other Mexican AIs do? There was also some meeting space at the ground level of the main lobby that kinda just looked like it was being used for activities and small gatherings. It had a huge patio area.

There was also a big lounge in the club building that served food. I imagine that will be re-imagined into a full restaurant

Many have wondered why the Westin Cancun has been available through Aventuras, VSN, and Abound, despite not being part of any specific trust where Marriott or Vistana have actually sold contracts. One possibility is that Marriott might be shifting inventory between the Westin Cancun and higher-demand properties, like Lagunamar or Los Cabos, within these networks. If that were the case, it could theoretically allow them to free up units at those more premium resorts to bolster their own direct rental business. Since the Westin Cancun is generally perceived as a lower-value property compared to the other two, such an arrangement would likely be a savvy move for their bottom line—potentially explaining why this setup is slated to continue for the next 10 years.
