Does Chairman status help with room choice when booking at WKORV

I have Chairman status and am thinking of buying another unit at WKORV in the aftermarket. I am thinking that view category owned and date stamp are the main determination of priority on room location requests…i.e. high floor on an ocean front. Would having chairman status help?

Doesn't booking via VSN StarOptions show whether it's OF or not? Couldn't you just book OF if that's what you want, assuming it's available?

Outside of some extenuating circumstances, the view you own or book would always be the view you are assigned. That would never be in question. You certainly aren't going to be upgraded from a resort view to an oceanfront because of Chairman's status, timestamp or anything else. As to the actual unit you are assigned within the view, timestamps seems to rule.

Thanks everyone! One other question, if you buy a resale and are already a chairman, does the resale inventory show up like the rest of your inventory or is show up differently. In other words, would I enjoy Chairman benefits to the resale or do they have a way of seperating it out?

I believe the answer is no, but where you could go with it depends on what it is. If it is a resale mandatory VSN resort like WKORV, the week would be enrolled in VSN and not in Abound, so would not benefit from your Chairman's Club status unless you purchase additional Vistana VOIs retail in order to reauthorize the week (costs a minimum spend of $10K for the first week plus $5K for additional weeks). For the resale mandatory VSN week, there would be an additional VSN fee on top of your Chairman's Club dues. If it is a resale non-mandatory VSN resort it wouldn't be enrolled in either VSN or Abound unless and until it is reauthorized similar to a mandatory week but there would be no fee on top of the maintenance fees. If it is a Marriott week, there would be a different process to enroll it in Abound but it would cost more. If it is a collection of Marriott Points, you would have to pay the additional fees to Marriott to enroll them and they would benefit from your Chairman's Club status.

Thank you! Just to clarify, all of our ownerships are at Westin’s and are 5 star elites in the Vistana program.

Just so you know, "5 Star Elite," no longer exists - your status is now described in Marriott terms.

Ok. The result would still be dependent on what resale you would be buying and whether it is a “formerly Vistana” product.

From your OP - you went from Vistana 5-star to MVC Chairman level (and likely Titanium Elite for BonVoy) based on your ownership.
Same with us.

If I were to buy a resale Maui unit, the main purpose is to use it. But I am starting to convert some weeks to club points to expolore some of the Marriott properties. The main benefits of Chairman status is with using Clubpoints - reservation window, banking deadlines, last minute discounts. Would this new aftermarket unit be blended in with my current inventory or is it held as seperate inventory with no elite status? If it has no elite status, I could always use my existing units to trade into club points and use the new unit only for Maui. Just curious to see if anyone has done this.

If you were to buy a resale WKORV or WKORVN week, it would be enrolled in VSN as a mandatory resort week. It would result in an additional VSN annual fee as a separate cost from your Abound Club dues. I don’t know if it would wind up in the same account as your other ownership - I have 3 VSN log ins because of how they set things up for my various resale weeks.

I don’t believe you would get some of the Chairman status benefits like the longer banking period, but that might not matter since you seem to plan to use the week. I believe there were some tuggers that posted their results adding WKORV weeks after 2022.

As a VSN mandatory resort, I'm not sure if if would count toward status or not, but the resale definitely should not be able to elect for Club Points unless retro'd to be fully brought into the Abound system. Otherwise to book Marriott resorts using that week you'd have to exchange via II.

Thank you Tuggers! Such a wealth of knowledge. This confirms my thoughts…..so, if I do buy an extra week at WKORV, I would use it at WKORV and if we wanted to do some club point exchanges, I would use my developer purchased units. Thanks!
