I'm looking for advice on where to go to see the flower blooms. I read that 2026 isn't a super bloom year and that the bloom has already started.

Bill

We have had a warm winter. My coral tree is already blooming, so I suspect that other plants are also mixed up.

We go to Anza Borrego. Here's a link from the state about other locations that may be interesting. https://www.parks.ca.gov/NewsRelease/1471

Btw this is from the 2017 super bloom. I can't remember if we were in Anza Borrego or somewhere else.

I think we are heading to the Langcaster area on our way south if the poppies decide to bloom. Maybe Anza Borrengo might be a go. We will be driving the PHC in March on our way north so there might be some blooms in those parts of California.

Some of the local areas around PHX have Poppies pop up, as our weather has been unseasonably warm (although we are cooling down next week, so may impact some of the blooms). SoCal may be similar or different :) ...

This is the wildflower tracker at Picacho Peak (on the way to Tucson from PHX), a popular place for wildflowers here too... (+ nice hike, with sections climbing steel cable, giving an Angels Landing vibe)...

*Saw this through the PPS (Pacific Photographic Society) meetup folks..
May give you an idea of how the blooms are thus far...

We were a bit early for the poppy bloom but did find a few at the poppy preserve in Antalope Valley.

We were on time for the Joshua Tree bloom down the road from the poppy preserve.

The Joshua Tree hike was better than the poppy hike, imo.

I've enjoyed walking around the Anza Borrego Park grounds to look at the flowers. Sometimes I'll see the big mountain goats

We made it to this area. There were flowers in the desert but not a super bloom senario. Pretty nice all the same. What was cool is all of the art in the desert. We spent a couple of hours driving and hiking the art. Plenty of flowers and cactus blooming between the art. It was deffinitly worth going.

I’ve ridden my motorcycle out there many times. We had a ton of rain and then heat so I think the bloom came early. We just had another huge rain so maybe a late bloom? Who knows? The desert is very green this year.

Located in Carlsbad

We went here today. They opened yesterday. It was the most flowers we have seen in one spot. We walked the farm and had blueberries for lunch. The lady told us all you can eat and to pick a container for $8. We spent at least 3 hours here. Thanks for the tip.

I used to work on the corner there before the big Amstrong nursery and mall got put in. We just had a wooden shack and sold strawberries and cut flowers. It was a good gig while I was in college.

The rannunculus are primarily grown for the bulbs. As pretty as they are, the flowers have no scent.

In the late 90s, the owners let me wheel my Harley into one of the rows and we took an engagement photo in there (first wife).

My fav place to visit!
GPP is the place to stay, for visiting the Flower Fields!
March is usually too nice here in PHX & a bit too cold for our liking in Carlsbad, so will be visiting/staying at GPP next month!
Love waking up with the glorious sunrise over the flower fields, swimming at the GPP pool/lounging at their hot tub, with these beautiful views & amazing sunsets over the fields & the ocean...
They last until Mother's day although they did extend 1-2 weeks last year (but many fields are gone by then and many flowers are sad looking by then)...
TY!

Agreed Grand Pacific Palisades Villa C is the best ... overlooking the flower fields and ocean views. Will be there next month. We used to make it there at least every other year. This will be our first flower field stay in several years. Looking forward to it. Thanks for the pics @easyrider.

*Looks like Death Valley is having it's best Super-Bloom since 2016...

Glad you made it to our flower fields, just minutes from our hale, counselor. We just missed you as we were in Hawaii. 🌊

As for Borrego, sadly that is where SD sends its pedos. Be careful if you bring kids there.

It's a nice area. I can actually feel why you all like it. About the only thing that's not for us is the traffic but I think I could get use to it.

Edit. After trying to drive the Pacific Coast Highway and being stuck in traffic we made the move to I 405 and hit the most traffic Ive ever been in. Now that Ive see the hell in this Southern California heaven I can tell its not for me.

Yes, the LA area traffic is next level, though we get a lot down in SD for a few hours each morning and evening. LA is about 10-12 hours a day of gridlock on the 5 and 405.

LA and SD are not the same place, though both are considered SoCal, they really are not comparable. People flee LA to live in OC and SD, and never go back voluntarily.

Love Carlsbad & HGVC properties there!
Hate LA traffic....
Thankfully, it's I-8 all the way from PHX to SD, so nice easy drive & usually not much traffic for us, at all!
Love our Spring Flower Fields GPP condo & summer MarBrisa condo stays at Carlsbad, Thx to HGVC!
