Looking for recommendation son places we could take 10 year old grandkids for 4 or 5 days (one boy, one girl).
They live in different cities, so logistics is a concern.
thanks.

Not sure where you're located, a few years ago, we took our 2 Grandsons to Oak N Spruce in Lee Mass. They were similar ages at the time, and had a ball. We've since taken them to Jackson Gore in Ludlow, VT ~ and they enjoyed that. Other resorts we've been to that seemed to have a lot for kids were Woodstone at Massanutten in VA, and Smugglers Notch in VT.

I stay at Old Town Alexandria VA a lot. Excellent access to DC for all the sites and museums. The resort is next to the King Street Metro station. Just hop on the Blue or Yellow lines and you are at the Mall in 20 minutes on either the Smithsonian (Blue) or L'Enfant (Yellow) stations. You can visit all of the monuments and museums on your own or pick up one of the trolley tours that run around the Mall.

What state do you want to take your grandchildren? Florida, Virginia, North or South Carolina, California. This would help Tuggers to help you in your location process? IMHO

We love Massanutten
It’s perfect for all age groups

My Son likes Wyndham Reunion in Orlando. He and my DIL have taken their 3 kids there a couple times.

My kids loved Reunion. They were a bit younger than 10 when we went, but they're 10/12 now and would definitely still like it.

Years ago, my sister brought her two kids, a niece and nephew to Williamsburg we met her there with our daughter . All kids were 10, 12 and 14 they had a fun time. We went to Busch Gardens, Water Park, they especially like the Ghost tour at Colonial Williamsburg. She came down from Boston and we came up from Florida.

Gatlinburg (Sevierville, TN) or Branson have plenty to do at that age. Williamsburg in a few years. At 10, I don't think they would get much out of there.

I don't know where you live, but also Orlando, FL area too it's hard to go wrong. Bonnet Creek has a lot to do just on property, the theme parks and Kennedy Space Center is an hour or so away.

It would help to give more information like where you are at, and interests.

We enjoyed Pompano Beach but it’s not high end. Lots to do though! Mini golf, multiple pools, activities and shuttles to the beach and the sawgrass mall. Ignore the casino across the street. Nice walk around the lake with iguanas and over friendly ducks and geese… staff is really great there also.

@MLClan Where are they located? What interests them? How old are they? Are they (you) in USA? Do they have passports? Is travel cost an issue? Otherwise all you'll get is testimonials of what worked for readers. Help us help you.

Agree with @Passepartout. Too many unknowns to make any kind of recommendation.

My grandchildren LOVE Pagosa Springs in Colorado. During the week, there are 2 arts and craft events per day. Onsite, there is also free access to the mini golf, shuffle board, tennis, pickle ball, and disc golf. The pool and hot tub are indoors and well kept. And the river is just a couple of miles away where we sit in the river's natural hot springs - the kids think that is the craziest thing ever - lol - and it doesn't cost to sit in the river's hot springs.

sorry for not responding sooner.
Live in St. Louis, but one of the G'kids lives in PA, so we'd have to meet somewhere
Thought I'd said that they will be 10. one boy and one girl.
He's into Minecraft and Nintendo, she's does swimming and crafts..

If you're needing to drive, Wyndham Great Smokies Lodge in Sevierville, TN should be fairly equidistant. The resort has great waterparks onsite, and of course there are all the attractions nearby. If flying, can't go wrong with Bonnet Creek for the same reasons.

Massanutten has arcades and virtual game room etc, arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor waterpark, golf, tennis, horseback riding, gem stone mining etc… they will be busy there.

This was one of our choices, Other Grandma lives in Johnson City, so could be a two-fer

From what I think is the situation, your granddaughter lives in one state and your grandson lives in another state. If that's the case, they'll likely have different spring break weeks (but that's something to check) so that travel can't begin until June.

Summer weeks down south are hot as...well...you know. If you're thinking about the southeast, hot, humid, rainy season, hurricane season. Southwest? Hotter than you can imagine. Even though summertime is offseason down there and will be cheaper as a result, I'd avoid because up North will have more comfortable weather although also having nice beaches, pools, etc.

So I think suggestions in Colorado or the Smokies in Tennessee make sense. Since you're a Wyndham owner and there may be some benefit in remaining within the Wyndham system, you might get a Wyndham resort listing and start evaluating reviews, etc. of "up North" resorts for a summertime stay.

Something to consider: kids in my family LOVED (and still love) treetop adventures. These types of companies offer adventures all over the country. Scroll down to "everything is cooler in the trees":

And read the review of the "10 year old plus grandpa". That could be you. :)

Also, trip advisor has its reviews:

definitely will keep it in mind.
Smokies will probably be first choice as a common meeting place.

I haven't been to Colorado since my Manhattan company gave us all an April ski trip to Vail a good many years ago, but in my opinion the Smokies are a great summer vacation destination for kids.

Of course, kids don't want to just lay motionless and and roast in the sun, so an active pool with a lot of other kids would be optimal for them. I assume wherever in the Smokies would have that.

Since I mentioned treetop adventures in my last post, Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg seem to have some rather interesting adventures:

And the biggest city nearby, Knoxville (home to the main campus of the University of Tennessee), does as well:

+100 to the Great Smoky Mountains and the Wyndham there. I have a Youtube review of it:

I recall really liking the area and the resort was fine. I plan to go back in late April or May of 2027.
