Gee, Wyndham doesn't do renovations NEARLY as often as Point at Poipu does. I can say that without hesitation because Shearwater had an update about 15 years ago, and P@P had just done one, we were at Point at Poipu with my mother-in-law (long since passed), and she thought it was beautiful with the pretty light green furniture and carpeting. The draperies still had strips of fabric keeping the pleats in place because they just apparently hung them that day. Then P@P did another refurb, which we saw when we visited our friends who own there, and now they are doing another one. Shearwater is 15 years without any refurbs. This is the difference between Wyndham and Hilton/ Diamond.
We have been staying in the same unit types at Bonnet Creek (Wyndham) for about 9 years, maybe skipped a year or two, and nothing has changed in those units at all. Same rugs, same bedroom furniture, etc. I hope they change the beds occasionally.
The bug problem at the Wyndham resort on the Big Island will keep me from Kona Hawaiian Village for my whole life. Never have had issues at Shearwater but we are usually in a higher-level unit as owners (we book it with extra points). Hilton's resorts on the BI never have these roach issues.
I do not understand the loyalty people have for Wyndham. I will never understand it.
