Marriott Timeshare "Secrets" on Ebay...

sure, post it here buddy

I always see these listings for things on E-Bay.....such as "The Secret to Getting Steelers Season Tickets" or the "Secret to getting Packers tickets".....I have always assumed they are a fraud listing..........let us know how it turns out.

Post it Please

Would you be willing to post it in the FAQ section for us to read? Did you learn anything new?

Yes, I did buy it...

...since we are in the process of closing on our first timeshare.

I emailed him after receiving it. I will hold off giving my opinion of it until I heard back from him, to be fair.

sounds like someone is stealing ideas from PerryM and TUG and selling them on eBay

Could be, I suppose...

I will give him a day or two to respond, then I'll let the forum know what I find out. I'll chalk it up to a $10.00 learning experience.

$10 is a very cost-effective resource. I am curious to know if there is anything new in there.

I bought the secrets of timeshare supposedly from a former salesperson just out of curiousity. I spent $3.95 to see if I was missing anything. I knew it was garbage when I read the section about putting RCI last call weeks on 24 hold while you list it on ebay. If you don't rent the week, release the hold. That was enough for me.

Keep in mind that this has a single author - so it is one man's opinion. That's not saying it doesn't contain good advice, since I haven't read it. But, as the poster above pointed out, there could be misleading information, so if anything seems strange, post an inquiry here about it. What's good about Tug is that, although many of us aren't experts (of couse, I wouldn't insult DaveM and a few others perhaps by including them in that category :) ), if someone posts incorrect info. Dave or someone else is likely to correct it.

On the other hand, it might be a good basic resource to give a beginning foundation. Stick around here for awhile and you'll get the whole crash course- maybe more than you ever wanted to know. But- beware- it can become an addictive hobby :whoopie: !

only secrets worth $ are mine

The only secrets worth $$$ are mine, and I'm not selling..... and I'm also not kidding. jme

are there truly any "secrets"?

I'd say any "secrets" worth telling, could be found right here on TUG.
Unfortunately, I sure realized this after I spent $10.00.

I think I bought the same one. I thought the information was really good UNTIL I found this website then I realised it was good misinformation  . I do however think it was an excellent investment because it meant that I found out about timeshare forums. :D

Carol- the best investment you can make to learn about timeshares is to become a member of Tug. There are basic courses in Timesharing and advanced courses as well.

Please do not waste your money...

If you are reading this, then you know about TUG, which is your best resource for timeshare tips and "secrets". There are no timeshare secrets , tips, or anything of real value in this guy's material, unfortunately. It is not a book or booklet as I expected, but he emails you an attachment of about 6 pages of his "notes". Over 1/2 of the document talks about the Marriott Reward charge card and it's related points. He is very general and vague and the rest is stuff you can find anywhere anyway. I learned a $10.00 lesson. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably IS too good to be true.
I think the guy's idea is a good one, but he offers VERY, VERY little for the money. He may be totally sincere too. Or he may be trying to make a quick buck or two... Either way, there's just not enough substance.
Also, he asks for suggestions for material that should be included in his document... and we are paying HIM... Oh well, enough of my soapbox.
Please don't waste your money like I did.

There was on guy on ebay selling his bronze bonus Summit Watch for $3500 last fall on EBAY. Thanks to you gracious tuggers I saved over $2000 due to the discussions here regarding the $1500 price direct from Marriott. My $15 dues are well worth the secrets bestowed here on TUG!!!:whoopie: BTW this guy is still peddling his Summit Watch for about $2850 on EBAY. He has a 100% feedback rating. Where is the justice in EBAY!!!???

I saw that too and chuckled. However, just look through Ebay and you'll shake your head sometimes. Electronics go for more than I can find them on pricegrabber for from reputable sellers. People will keep on upping the bidding price and get in bidding wars sometimes when the exact same item, soemtimes even from the same seller, is listed for less at a buy it now price. I don't get it.

My guess is this Ebay seller of timeshare tips is making a nice few bucks because human nature assumes that if he is selling it, it must be worthwhile and people are afraid of missing out on something. Thickey-want to help curb his ripping people off-leave neutral feedback for him on Ebay with a comment like "could get better information on Tug.com"- that way, you'd be alerting others that there's a better source for information.

What is "$1500 price direct from Marriott"?

Thanks for the link. It seems like a good way to get into the Marriott system.

Keep in mind that it is really only a good purchase if you can plan vacations during Flexchange (in which case people have gotten fabulous trades). Otherwise if has limited trading power and still has a substantial MF.

Yes, the MF are a little high. I belong to RCI and II, but never heard of Flexchange until I joined TUG. Still not quite sure how it works.
