I have 2 Bedroom Premier Christmas Week in the Grand Waikikian.

Go Koala may be the best since it comes with insurance. You are responsible for any damage to the unit by guests so that is a nice option. You can also use the TUG marketplace and Redweek but there may be others.

Is it weird, that I only see Lagoon tower rentals on Koala and Redweek and zero Grand Waikikian?

Not sure of past rentals but may provide an opportunity for you since none are there

Am I looking at this correctly? Koala takes around 8% of the rental price and Redweek only takes $99?

Koala is more expensive but, I thought, on top of the rental price. I have only talked to others that have used it so hopefully they can chip in with real world experience

I have listed for rent numerous timeshares that I was myself unable to visit due to one reason or another....and never got even a single inquiry via Koala. Not one. But maybe they're better for timeshares that I don't own, like Hawaii timeshares.

So, for whatever it's worth, that's my "sample of one" experience.

It doesn't cost to list with Koala, however, so why not?

Weird? Maybe. But that is the way it almost always is. What is "weird" is that there are so many Lagoons for rent and more get listed every single day of the year, it seems. Kalia, GW, GI almost never have more than 1 or 2 listings. I have seen listings for all of those, but they are rare.

I tend to figure that since Lagoon is much older than the others are, that when Lagoon was first sold, half the inventory was sold to people (aka commercial renters) who bought it solely to make the ROI on the weeks they bought. I know the idea that they can only rent Home Wks, but there it is. Maybe they are. Maybe not.

The hundreds or thousands of Lagoon listed on Redwk each yr seems like an elephant in the room round here, honestly. I have read people ask about it a few times and they get Radio Silence.

Redweek only takes $99?
there are multiple threads with hundreds of posts on this. Redwk keeps tightening the noose, aka taking more of the bucks.
I'm sure that Redwk also has a "success fee", but I don't know what it is. I don't rent mine so I don't store it away

All it is saying is that there is a $99 charge when it is rented, nothing shows for any other fees.

thread named something like "Redweek changes and not in a good way". I have little luck with the search here or I'd struggle to find it for you

Found it, looking through the 17 pages of it for something useful other than the nattering. :p

Not weird at all. HGV gives me all of 15,360 points for my Oceanfront 2BR at Lagoon while giving 23,040 for a 2BR at GW which might or might not have a good view.

It's even worse for Penthouse owners - HGV gives them that same 15,360 for a 3BR Penthouse at Lagoon and 46,000 points for a 3BR Penthouse at GW.
