eBay sniping programs were just mentioned on a thread on the BSR board. Ones that were suggested included eSnipe, auctionsniper, and bidrobot. Anyone else want to suggest a program, or give their experiences with these three?

I have used bidslammer many, many times over the years and it's always worked great.

Hey wait...that's how I got all these timeshares...on second thought, better stay away from it

Bidnapper works as well.

If you google ebay snipe, you can use many if not all programs for a free trial period.

I agree. I also use bidnapper. It's very reasonably priced. Unfortunately (?), when I have the highest bid, I always win.

I have used Auction Sentry for a couple of years and really like it. The positve is that you don't devulge your password to a third party. The drawback is if you loose power or your internet connection when the bid is due to be placed you won't get your bid in.

I prefer to keep my password private and take my chances with the internet connection.

There are two versions available. Auction Sentry has a one time purchase and the deluxe model has a annual subscription. I am currently using both versions.

I use EZsniper - probably because of the free introductory offer a couple of years ago.

Seems to work just fine for my occasional use. Maybe I'm paying too much. Has anyone done a comparision on the fees for the various services?

Wow, there are a lot of eBay sniping programs out there! Thanks for the suggestions!

Has anyone here had a bad experience with a sniping program? As in, the program compromised your password, didn't place bids, placed bids for the wrong amount -- anything like that?

What would be the advantage of using a snipe program over the automatic bidding offered by Ebay?

Automatic bidding raises your bid everytime someone else bids up to your maximum bid no matter how long is left on the auction. With a sniping program, you set your maximum bid you are willing to pay and it is placed just a few seconds before the auction ends. Therefore, you are not driving up the final price long before auctions end.
