Can HGVC rent unused rooms on Redweek? If they do, is that fair? We were looking to use points for an open season stay in NYC next month. Of course, there wasn't any availability and the rep happened to mentioned that they save rooms for HGVC, open season and for Redweek. I expect that they save rooms so that I can use points. I don't want them saving rooms with nothing left for me. Is this common practice now?

I don't think HGV would rent out on Redweek but they do dump unsold inventory into Hilton. Owners can rent out their homeweek on Redweek though and do on a number of sites.

Renting out unsold inventory helps the properties.

Can HGVC rent unused rooms on Redweek?
I can’t imagine that HGVC would use Redweek instead of just renting out the inventory they own on the Hilton hotel website.

Anything you see on Redweek is almost certainly listed by owners.

OP, HVG can rent out inventory which they own and also inventory when owners convert their weeks/HGVC/bHC points to Hilton honors points.

From the Club Rules document in the pink sticky up above.

Reservation requests may be subject to HGVC's
right to reserve accommodations for its own purposes including for exchange, inspection visits, promotions, rentals or any
other purpose at HGVC’s discretion which remain unreserved thirty (30) days or less prior to the commencement of the
Vacation Time Period. Additionally, when a Member exchanges their ClubPoints for benefits or services other than
Affiliated Resort accommodations, such as ClubPartner Perk reservations or Honors points, HGVC must pay the third party
for the Member’s use thereof. As such, HGVC, in its sole discretion, may rent or otherwise use the accommodations
relinquished by that Member or other unused inventory to cover the cost of such third-party benefits and services.
