I’m a platinum RCI member who booked my first exchange today. I had called back to change resorts and now I have multiple charges on my credit card. Could someone verify if I have this correct?

$249 - 10% = $224.10 for a combined deposit fee
$89 for a trip cancellation fee

Am I right in thinking the platinum members have no exchange fee? My credit card was charged over $1020 for a one week studio stay for 18 points.

I’m going to call RCI tomorrow, but it would ease my mind if I knew what was correct.

I don’t like that they leave the cost out of the confirmation. The breakdown should be sent in an email.

Thanks in advance!

Platinum members get no discounts on exchange fee and certainly don't get free exchanges. If the fee was over $300 then you booked an exchange plus which is basically hotel inventory (not timeshares) that you don't have to pay tax on and get a slight discount using points. When you booked it the amount would have clearly shown on the page before you put in your credit card and clicked confirm.

I had called them for booking. It was definitely a standard exchange. I will see from my phone call tomorrow what happened. Thank you for responding.

Did you say you changed resorts? You don’t get your exchange fee back (just TPU back) and certainly don’t get trip cancellation (called point protection) fee back.

Likely you paid all above twice but that’s RCIs rule.
