Oceanside availability question

CBI (Carlsbad Inn), & Tamarack are both GPR (Grand Pacific Resorts), just like CSP, (Carlsbad SeaPointe), GPP & MarBrisa; the last 3 are also directly bookable via HGVC pts; the 1st two are not, but are available via RCI or AFVC or DeX or GPX exchanges.

They do charge daily resort fees/parking fees etc for non-owners, adding to the expense for exchangers
+ CBI gives not so nice rooms only, to exchangers, per other DPs..

Their MFs are too high to pay for; much cheaper to stay at Oceanside WM..

CBI is right in the Village of Carlsbad; more 'action', walk to restaurants & down to the beach etc

The 3 HGVC Carlsbad locations are all nice but a little drive from Village of Carlsbad but these (esp GPP & MB) are very close to LegoLand, if kiddos in tow..

We are at Carlsbad at HGVC & passed by WM Oceanside today also. Parked in the large public parking lot next to WM Oceanside & walked across to the beach. Love it! Look forward to our stays there next year!

We like the beach. Sometimes we say hi to people at the fire rings and hang out for a bit after sunset.

I really appreciate the responses. I do not mind walking, even though at 77 my energy is not what it used to be. If I have a few drinks taking an Uber from downtown probably is not very expensive. I do like the location of the Wyndham property (I used to belong to the Wyndham system). I did rent a week at Worldmark for the last week of March from Bill Stephan of Smart Share. I did business with him many years ago and was extremely pleased with his help. The smart thing to do is probably wait to I spend a week in Oceanside to see how much I like it. I saw listings (too bad the memberships were already sold when I asked about them) for $1200 for 12000 annual points. If I see something like that again I will most likely jump on it.

I am not extremely fussy about having the very best facilities. If I can find a few nice places to just sit and enjoy the ocean along with finding a few charming places to eat, drink, and people watch I will be a happy camper. I am open to exploring all possibilities though, with Worldmark at the top of the list for now due to their lower MF.

I really dislike the WM Oceanside facility. Check-in area is nice and the rest of the building is very sad. We decided to divest from our WM contract after our stay this year. It was just not pleasant walking through the corridor. Despite their refurbishment a couple of years ago, it looks like they only redid the inside of the units but not the common area.

It is important that you are alright with it before acquiring a WM contract.

There are often free ones on TSN as @Eric B often posts; may chk & get something you like.
BUT, pls do see comment of @VacationForever re that place. I have not stayed there yet, so can't comment on how it is, although it looked ok from outside. My stay at Pinetop/AZ WM & WM Estes Park were excellent (but does not say anything about Oceanside)...

We enjoyed our stay @ Oceanside. Couldn’t figure out the hype I read about before going. We felt it was a 3 star location but the hot tub/pool area was nicer than similar areas at other WM locations here in the Midwest. The walk to the pier was fine & restaurants were good. Easy to get to and highway noise didn’t bother us.

You can also find free accounts or for the $399 transfer fee on wmowners.com.

Enjoy your trip & let us know what you think.
