Embarc available if purchasing resale?

It has been a while since I researched HGVC and it seems like there are many more resorts on their page (170?) than when I did a few years ago. We live in the PNW and the Embarc locations were of particular interest, do these newly added resorts function like the original HGVC resorts? Meaning is there any restriction for accessing them or any other of the 170 HGVC website lists if you purchase resale?

My understanding was resale pays a bit more for booking and don't have some sort of elite program access (how valuable is that?)

We are wanting around 20k pts, which would allow Hawaii 2br in best weeks. Please correct me if that is incorrect.

No, the Embarc resorts are actually a separate club. If you want Embarc resorts, then best to purchase in the Embarc system.

You will not have access to Max (meaning that you can not book outside of your club). I don't recommend purchasing in HVC (trust collection) because resale owner can only book in that collection. HGVC is still a good deal for resale owners when purchasing resale (but you can only book Legacy HGVC resorts {not Embarc}). If you purchase HGVC Craig Lodge resale, then you can book HGVC and trade into Embarc properties via DeX (that is what many of us are doing for Embarc and HVC options).

Thank you! Is there a directory of which clubs are which? I have no idea what trust collection are.

Aside from these 3, Embarc, trust and legacy, are there any other types I need to be aware of?

HGVC (Legacy) Hilton Grand Vacation Club
Embarc (Total of 9, 6 have been rebranded as HGVC, and 3 remain Embarc. But the Embarc HGVC don't trade with Legacy HGVC properties)
HC - Hilton Club or bHC - by Hilton Club
HVC - Hilton Vacation Club, formerly Diamond Club made up of several separate trusts, US, Cabo Azul, HI (those are the ones which I know about)
BG - Blue Green

Max is an exchange program for retail purchases to exchange into the other clubs

For Embarc there is zero difference in cost of reserving between retail sale or resale. All benefits/guidelines are the same as well. Only difference is your cost to buy points.

Correct. It is only a branding thing, but I don't think that there is much availability to any of the Embarc properties via MAX.

That is wonderful because we will be there in early February 26.

All renos will be completed by then. Whistler has gotten more expensive since the Vail takeover but it certainly is unique and a wonderful place to visit any time of the year.

You could always check out TUG's Marketplace or sites like Redweek to see about renting from owners.

Unfortunately, there aren't many Embarc members here... Redweek has its own challenges. We have a Facebook group for Embarc - Hilton members interested in trading directly with each other - at cost.
