RCI Suspended Eagle Village Tamiment

It got a coat of paint, which, if what I was told was correct, was not completely done. Just like everything else that was touched. It was done to aesthetically change, but not improve, repair or have proper maintenance done.
And it will be tough to prove fraud, since the Goochers have stated Oakes is the one who fronted the money. Which is an outright lie, considering he is broke and is being sued by countless companies. However. Just because they said he was fronting it, doesn't mean they weren't using MFs and deedback money to pay. Just creates an extra layer of insulation, that will be slightly tougher to get to the bottom of.

I listened to tonight’s Zoom meeting with another owner. The individual (Joe) that has been hired along with his company to oversee the future issues concerning Eagle Village conducted the approximate one hour meeting. In “our opinion”, there was a lot of double talk and it was quite obvious that the decision has already been made by both the current board of directors and this company that the property is going to be sold even though this has not been admitted or finalized. This person spent most of the hour trying to convince owners as to why the property should be sold. What puzzled us was if this company was hired to look out for the best interest of the owners then personal opinions from a hired employee should not be apparent. There is another Zoom meeting scheduled for September, and as he mentioned several times there will be a vote of the owners to finalize what will occur with Eagle Village. Others that read this post might disagree with my review regardless it is a sad situation that it has come to this.
(Also if anyone would like a recording of this meeting you can contact the above listed individuals. By doing so you can make your own determination of the presentation.)

I wonder what would happen if the majority of the owners voted no, to EV being sold.

My guess is a massive Special Assessment to bring it up to snuff, which is probably also not something that most owners want. I've never been there, but from the accounts I've read here on TUG, it doesn't feel like the resort could possibly continue on as it has without major restoration.

The individual that was presenting this discussion on Zoom mentioned that possibility however, my impression is that this decision has already been made to sell the property. I believe that the future meetings will continue to be a hard sell to dissolve the resort.Maybe that is the best option in the long run however, I am very cautious.

Only way out is to sell. He showed the figures. At least 10,000 per week in assessment for the remaining 500 owners to generate 5,000,000 which seems to be the target needed to do renovations. EV has a >$500,000 tax bill that is about to be auctioned off in September unless they can stop it. He talked about the insides needing updating, Wish I could have attended. I would have asked about the roofs. I got the impression he is sees a complete sale of the property as is. If anyone asked what happened to the money from all the deed backs, he didn't answer. He seemed to think John and Melanie were good guys and the board members were one of us. I would have asked whether he realized the board members were only members from the last 6 months. He kept referring to them as if they were one of us. They live in California. Doubt they ever have been to EV.
I feel the only way out is to vote to sell and be done with this circus. The question about the lake was a good one. It is owned by the The Bluwater Foundation. Bet that is who it will be sold to. Towb is just going to de-timeshare the property - bring the parcel of land back to one parcel ownership. He said it would take about 18 months. Looking forward to the next meeting.

I guess this pretty much shows what the end result will be.
If the property is now being offered due to tax defaults and there is no EV funding to pay..😕
Wonder where all the money from the deedbacks went? Just because EV is now gone, doesn't mean that their cannot be repercussions to the fiscal mismanagement by John Oakes.

Good point.
I feel bad for those owners that were encouraged to pay for a deed back whether by broker or by the “reduced rate “offered by Eagle Village recently.
Where did those funds go paid by owners to Eagle Village??

The money I paid never went to Eagle Village POA. It went directly to that Bushkill "holding company" who was also receiving the deed. This sounds more and more like a MLM scheme each day. I paid John's company to receive my deed. They didn't pay maintenance fees via that agreement with the Board. They could use the money I paid for whatever they wanted. Rinse and repeat. Now they own deeds and can try to control the process plus get paid out when/if it sells. I wouldn't put it past John to try to purchase the resort on the cheap after assisting it into the ground.

Very unfortunate and not surprising.
The end of Eagle Village seems to be approaching soon.

I thought he was out of money and has run his other ventures into the ground. Who would give him financing to purchase the property, even "on the cheap?"

He has no way of purchasing the property. Also, has no reason to come back to the east coast. Only time you will see John Oakes again is in a court room.
