Parking fee at BeachPlace, and perhaps others

I am going with the scenario I asked earlier
Beach Place Towers
Marriott Vacation Club Owner, booked with Club Points, stayed after January 1, 2025
Were you charged for parking??
jellen613 said they were not charged for parking during a stay in April 2025
So there are several scenarios;

BPT owner staying on their ownership week - Parking is complementary
Owner exchanging in with Club Points - Parking is complementary
Marriott owner exchanging in with II - Parking is complementary
Non Marriott owner exchanging in with II - ????
Cash, OTA or Bonvoy stays - USD $35 + tax per night

Is the one in bold red complementary to match other Marriott resort policies or do they pay the $35/night fee?

March 2023 and they definitely charged for parking at that time. The parking charge in 2023 was $14.98/day.
So it seems the change in policy was between March and December 2023. You were charged in March, @Dean was not charged in December. I don't know exactly when @chriskre stayed and wasn't charged.

But if parking is an included part of ownership,
I would concur that this is how it should be or at least it should be consistent across the membership. There are others here likely more in the know that I but a number of years ago, around the time that Aruba Ocean Club was having their upheaval, BPT submitted their proposal for refurbishment. Here are some of the issues as I recall them that were posted here. MVC took exception and there was quite the back and forth. Parking was one of the issues as was TV choices (Size/Brand) and a number of other things. Apparently MVC sent a letter threatening expulsion. After negotiations compromises were made. Charge for parking for all but owners there remained in place at that time. Maybe there were extenuating circumstances like the costs were so high at the time that it was a no win situation. I never recall seeing a resolution description.

Here is a thread on the subject from 2008. I just skimmed the first page.

I already posted a link to that in post #24. Interesting that they were squabbling over 37" vs 40" televisions, though MVC wanted LG and the board wanted some brand I never heard of.

I was thinking the original request from MVC was for Sony and JVC was the compromise.

It looks like it was for Sony or LG where the BOD wanted Olevia.

From that thread. This is from the OPs response to the letter, perhaps not what the actual letter they received said.
Re: Flat Panel TVs: Marriott wants a 40” Sony or LG flat panel TV in the living room, but the Board wants the smaller, cheap 37” Olevia instead, and proposes that Marriott pay the difference if they continue to insist or give up some fees. If you do a décor upgrade, do it right. A 37” widescreen flat panel TV is the same height as an old 25” TV and really too small for a living room these days. The extra cost of about $15 a week is minimal if the HOA really wants a ‘wow’ effect instead of going cheap like in the past. Instead, they unrealistically planned to have no MF increase and that tells me the new décor will be a grave disappointment.

Olevia filed for bankruptcy in July 2008. I’m sure the support for those TVs would have been solid. ;-)

My recollection was still that MVC originally asked for Sony and larger than 40 in, ? 43 inch.

That is not a question I can find an answer for
I cannot find the original link to Marriott parking rules that changed on January 1, 2025
I can find several timeshare brokers sharing information from the rules change
But I cannot find the rules change as published by Marriott
Typical Marriott confusion about small items of big importance

The policy change for BPT seems to predate the January 1, 2025 change for all the other Marriott resorts. The change for earlier this year was part of a longer thread and contained verbiage to where they were updating the resort by-laws for several properties.

The new parking fees can add up pretty fast for a rental at $25 per night for 7 nights that is $175.00 dollars mors to that family vacation costs. IMHO

Today
Marriott Hub statements for Beach Place Towers say parking fees are $35 a night
No exceptions are stated there

Are you saying there is no statement from Marriott regarding parking at timeshares for January 1, 2025

We are weeks owners and just stayed with an II exchange in July. We did not pay for parking despite the II reservation which lists the parking fee. I did not have to say anything, they just gave us the parking pass.

I can recall once, about 3 years ago, when they actually checked our ownership when exchanging back. My word was not good enough.

(Before you ask, we only exchange back when booking into a different season. We own Gold and sometimes go in the summer which is Platinum.)

One other thing about Beachplace that was interesting. They have a new system where they give you a hang tag at the front desk with a barcode. The hangtag doesn’t fit on our mirror, probably won’t fit on most peoples mirrors. You have to scan the barcode to get out of levels four and five as well as scanning it to get out of the garage. We found it to be a bit onerous.

That would be the reservation from Marriott.com/Bonvoy and applies to cash based (or Bonvoy point) stays.

I haven't seen a system wide statement come out about parking fees and its not in the MVC FAQs. There have been TUG threads about HOAs changing their association rules to allow for parking to be charged and it has always been something that is done on a resort basis with some consistency across resorts either by location or brand as to whether they charge or not and who to.

So it seems the change in policy was between March and December 2023. You were charged in March, @Dean was not charged in December. I don't know exactly when @chriskre stayed and wasn't charged.
My last stay was 2022 on an II non Marriott to Marriott exchange.
I do give them my MR rewards status on check in.
Not sure if that makes any difference.
The only place I've ever paid parking is Custom House.
I believe BP doesn't own the garage so that's why it's an issue
with the parking. Or maybe they don't manage the parking lot.
Something like that.

BPT wasn't part of the January 1, 2025 changes. The changes for BPT seemed to have happened sometime between March and December 2023. The only statements we seem to have regarding the January 1, 2025 changes were emails or notices sent out to resort owners regarding updating of by-laws with regard to the new parking fee for non timeshare based stays.

We have provided our Bonvoy number on every MVC timeshare stay and both my wife and I are either Platinum or Titanium at any given time. I am sure @jwalk03 also privded their Bonvoy number during their stay in March 2023. Bonvoy status has nothing to do with it.

I believe it was discussed somewhere in that thread that @Dean and I linked to that the top floors of the parking garage are owned by the BPT HOA. Everything beyond the BPT parking gate is owned by the association. If it wasn't, that would actually make a case for parking to not be complementary at BPT since you (or the HOA) would have to be paying the other entity to park your vehicle there.

I just made an Abound points reservation at Lakeshore Reserve for my son and his girlfriend for next summer. Parking cost on the reservation says $25/night. He is prepared to pay it but not having to pay it would be great. Although this does not refer to BPT, I was wondering if this reservation would be exempt from the fee. Thanks in advance for any response.😊

He won't have to pay it. I am sure you are seeing that parking fee on the confirmation that comes from Marriott.com/Bonvoy. Those are setup mainly for cash based stays made through Marriott.com. It would be great if the MVC and Marriott IT was good enough to differentiate and hide those details on timeshare based reservations, but they aren't, never have been and likely never will be. This has been a long ongoing issue regarding parking fees showing on confirmations from Marriott.com. It dates back to before we owned Marriott timeshare in the mid 2000s.

Yes- Bonvoy status does not matter. Though I did get a fabulous 17th floor ocean facing unit at BPT on that exchange and I was ecstatic for that, so status can't hurt at least! (even though I know its not technically a consideration for exchange stays)

I am Titanium and always make sure I get my ENCs for the timeshare stays to get my status since I'm a resale owner I have to hit the 75 night per year to keep it- not automatic status from my ownership.

I am not disagreeing with you
I am a little frustrated at the confusion around this issue
I never received an email about parking policy since I own Marriott at St Kitts
Beach Place Towers is very clear about a policy
Except we know it is not the policy
I have 3 weeks reserved before the end of the year at Beach Place Towers
This is $735.00 in parking fees
I am trying to get something in writing about the actual policy at Beach Place Towers and parking

The only thing I have seen is from Syed at Advantage Vacations
It says "many of its resorts"

As I mentioned before, Marriott Hub says parking at Beach Place Towers is $35 a day
Marriott Vacation Club Advisor says parking at Beach Place Towers is $35 a day

We have people who were saying they were not charged parking in certain bookings

These bookings match the information in Advantage Vacations posting

I am still looking for something in writing about the parking policy at Beach Place Towers

Call BPT Directly and ask them what the policy is. This is likely your best bet.

I find I can't always rely on that either. For a long time we thought Westgate resorts had resort fees. I even called them and they said I would pay a resort fee on an II booking. Staff there doesn't seem to know enough on how to differentiate what type of booking you have. They just go by what the computer says.
