We plan to book a 4-night stay at New Your resorts. We stayed at Midtown Hilton as well as Hilton resort on the top 3 floors and would like to try the other 3 resorts this time, targeting early or middle October.

Which resort you recommend? and which room type? We are willing to use more points if necessary. However, I prefer a balance of view type and points. Only 2 people for weekday stay. I understand that West 57th requires minimum 4-night to avoid extra fee. We do not own NY resorts.

How is the weather for early or middle October?

Any insights are highly appreciated.

The weather is perfect…any heat that may have lingered into late September is gone and the bitter winds that can appear in mid November have not yet arrived.

That said (and as a result) the city is usually packed with tourists that time of year.

As for resort, we prefer the location of the Quin and W57. And you should book the Quin or Central now even if you want to stay at W57 because its window opens at 60 days.

We love W 57th St where we have owned since pre construction. You won't go wrong anywhere.

W 57th or Quin studio penthouse with terrace I would say

There is no W 57th or Quin studio penthouse available for 4-night anymore, maybe I am too late to book the unit.

West 57th St: 1 bedroom penthouse, 718 SF, 25 or 26 floor, city view, 10800 Hilton point; 1 bedroom Premier, 570 SF, floor 15, 21 224, city view, 8200 Hilton point.

Is Penthouse worth the extra 2000 point? Is the extra 148 SF the only difference since both are cityview , no central park view?

Any suggestion or comment?

Guess you get a balcony? I would want it for the price plus more space.

As you are a non bHC owner you get basically the left overs that owners at those locations have scoped up first. The window for booking is only 60 or 90 days pending on the property.

Penthouse units at the Quin with a large private terrace might be worth if you plan on hanging around the unit and not being out on the town all day.

Does Penthouse unis at W57th also have a terrace? No balcony or terrace mentioned in the unit description.

My Favorite place and I owned at TR, w 57th, and TQ is The Residences - HANDS DOWN! Only 3 floors - really 1 floor and 2 1/4 floors. People moan about the lobby of the midtown Hilton - but you never have to actually go into the lobby - there is a side entrance on 54th and an escalator to the 2nd floor and you catch the up elevator there. If you own at this location, you will have access to the OL. I have never seen the place full; there are frequent tours through this lounge.

The rooms on the first floor (54th) are studio premier, studios premier +, and 1 bedroom premier. The next 2 floors above that are consider PHs (studio and 1 Bedrooms). FUN FACT the SP+ has a living room and a convertible sofa bed - 4 people could fit in there.

My least favorite of the 3 is w 57th and thus, I’ve sold (traded it to a Quin deed). w 57th - is a full use timeshare, every room. There are only 2 elevators and I have had to wait 15 minutes to move from floor to floor. The OL is always FILLED - there is outdoor seating that does help - but it can be drastically cold and wet (puddles). The bench seating is built too high and that doesn’t allow my feet to touch the floor - and the buffet is tight. One other awful design is the bar seating faces a wall. I have tried to book a room with a balcony 4 times. I got it once - the balcony faced south and that stay - it was snowing. I have booked the penthouse twice - It’s odd to have to leave your room to go out to a balcony - really odd - Now you can understand why I sold (Traded).

The Quin is my 2nd favorite - it oddly disconcerting that the PH units are different sizes and some with quite extensive balconies are the same point price. None-the-less, if you are able to grab the 19th floor, you managed a bargain. AND the VIEWS! I’ve stayed on the 17, 18, and 19th floors in the 1 Bedrooms Penthouse 4 times and will do a 5th this winter. I have not tried any of the non-PH rooms. The OL is on the 3rd floor, it has never been even close to full - but I’ve met several people there and the room is made for socializing. It’s the largest of the NYC OL that I have been into.

I did a promotional stay at the Hilton Club - in a very small room with a friend - there is barely enuf room to turn around. I believe it was less than 200sqft. The Hilton Club is located at the Midtown Hilton, and below The Residences; the property is a mixed-use (2 timeshares, and a MAJOR NYC hotel!) I did not get to visit the OL at The Hilton Club.

Lastly, I have not been to Central at 5th. The location does not work for me. AND it really is on 48th street! That street works excellently for Broadway Shows - but it’s on the east side of 5th Avenue - the Avenues are the long ends of the rectangular blocks. Whereas the other 3 locations are subway close to LGA - Cat5th is not.

Yes, this is MHO… AND I hope this helps.

Thumbs up for the summary! Now I am more interested in Residences. Did you say Studio Premier Plus can fit 4 but studio penthouse only 2? The cost for Studio Premier Plus is significantly less either buy in or point cost.

We will be among them. We go each year at this time to take advantage of both the weather and Open House New York - a great event if one happens to be in town at the right time. We plan around it annually.

Cheers.

Yes… Although TR bHC doesn’t allow you to make a reservation for 4 people in the Studio Premier +; it does indeed fit 4 people. There is a separate living room - and it has a pull-out sofa bed. Thus 4 people could be inside the room. The SPH is a one room unit - no living room space.

The SP+ and I’ve wrote this in other threads - is located new an exit stairwell. Because of the stairwell - it decreases the living room space - there is no table for 4 in the unit, that space is lost. But you have a sofa-bed an end-table and a chair inside the living room and a separate door to close between the living room and the bedroom. There is only 1 bathroom and the entry is through the bedroom. The living room also comes with closets for the 2 that might be staying on the sofa-bed.

Again HGVC doesn’t market this a 4 person room. Yes… the points are a valid question. I bought pre-construction - my first purchase with HGVC. I have a deed for the SP+ and I had never stayed in it until last year - preferring the 1BR PH. Now… I love this little space. It’s perfect for my solo NYC visits. I believe there are only 2 of these SP+ on the main floor. One to the right of the checkin area with a view of CP. and the other to the left also facing north - but really no view. It is steps away from the OL tho.

When walking the hallway on the main floor you can, the SP+ doors are inset from the hallway. ALL of the doors open directly into the hallway except for the SP+. That inset is for the exit staircases.

Not sure how much you paid for SP+ vs SPH but for resales, feel like a good value to get SP+ instead of the steep price of SPH. The maintenance cost pp is bearable too.
