Yup. Of course if you have a particular resort that you like, that could be a consideration as well.So find the lowest maintenance fees and buy more points for that location? Is that the best strategy for adding more points through the resale market?
Can you book presidential rooms with resale points?Yup. Of course if you have a particular resort that you like, that could be a consideration as well.
We bought three resales thru E-Bay over the past three years or so for a total of 500k points. These are Club Wyndham Access points, and all three contacts are January renewals. No problems at all with any of the three and Wyndham combined the second and third contracts into my original owner number. The E-Bay sellers were well rated and the entire process without issue. Wyndham is a bit slow to get new contracts added to your account. I would say it took the E-Bay seller a month to get their part done and three months for Wyndham to transfer the new account to you. Say about 4 months total. We currently have 300,000 points that we purchased from Club Wyndham. What would be the benefits of purchasing more points through the resale market? Can we combine them with the 300,000 points we currently have? Thanks in advance.
We have at Las Vegas Blue resort. Can you book presidential rooms with resale points?
Yes. In the 13 month window of the resort you own at, and in the 10 month window everywhere else. Presidential Reserve inventory can only be booked at the 10 month mark. However, this is exactly the same as developer points unless your points are presidential points. Can you book presidential rooms with resale points?

You can also buy presidential points on the resale market. The maintenance fees for them are generally higher though.
They don't count towards VIP. There is some other quirk with them I think if you own a million of them, but someone with more knowledge than me would need to jump in to clarify.Leaned something new today. I’ve never seen resale presidential points. Do they count toward VIP? Or the only benefit / difference is 13-month booking window?
Clarification, Presidential Reserve (PR) is a membership type - it's a contract in other words - which is why you can find PR resale contracts for sale periodically - and typically PR requires minimum 1m points - which is why PR contracts are almost always 1m+ point contracts. Here's a link to Wyndham's PR membership:Leaned something new today. I’ve never seen resale presidential points. Do they count toward VIP? Or the only benefit / difference is 13-month booking window?
Just a forewarning of a few of the lies that the sales weasels will tell you about whatever resale contract you have:We currently have 300,000 points that we purchased from Club Wyndham. .WYndham told me to buy 84k points and get rid of my 486k resale points. They told me to add my rci property as a pic worth 254k . Supposedly I would have 337k bronze vip points. They also said I would qualify for vacasa and the travel and leisure that I cannot access. Is any of this true ?
I'd say no, or at least misleading I think. No reason to drop a bunch of resale points IMO. Also, no reason to buy retail - VIP isn't worth the upfront cost IMO. Anyone can access vacasa as far as I can tell, it's a website, go to vacasa.com. IDK What Travel and Leisure is beyond the holding company and a magazine.WYndham told me to buy 84k points and get rid of my 486k resale points. I really laughed out loud when a backup salesman tried to convince us of #3. He showed us the owner priority page of the owners’ manual and tried to tell us those were the places resale couldn’t be used and soon it would only be our home resort. He got mad and left when I said “No it’s not!” and giggled a little bit.Just a forewarning of a few of the lies that the sales weasels will tell you about whatever resale contract you have:
1. IF you buy more developer points, it will "grandfather" your resale contract in with all the same benefits as developer points, including being able to book Worldmark resorts, and getting upgrades and discounts. Your resale points will be "just like" developer points.
2. You better get rid of your resale contract ASAP and buy Club Wyndham Access because they have "insider information" that the maintenance fees on your resale resort will be increasing next year by at least 5 times over whatever you are currently paying, or that your resale contract resort's owners are going to be hit with a multi-thousand-dollar assessment next year. IF you buy a bunch more developer points, we'll, (out of the goodness of our heart), take your resale contract back from you and you can still use it for the next 3 years for free (without having to pay any maintenance fees).
3. Wyndham is going to be changing the resale contract owner's rights next year and you will no longer be able to use your points to book anything anywhere except the resort where they are deeded.
4. All the units at your resale contract resort are being acquired by Club Wyndham Access and the few deeded contract owners that remain, (i.e. your resale contract), will not be able to find any availability to book a unit in the resort because all of the inventory will already be booked by CWA owners that can book the resort at 13 months.
These are just a few of the lies I've been told over the last few years.
You can use resale points to book any Wyndham resort within the standard window. What I've been doing is using my resale points to book stays where I know I wouldn't use a room upgrade, then saving my developer points to book at resorts or resort locations that I think there might be friends or family that might want to join us if I end up getting a room upgrade.
Resale points are held in a separate pool from your developer points, including the associated housekeeping & transaction credits, and guest confirmations. Once you own both developer and resale points, your account requires that you specify at the time you're booking a resort whether you will be using developer or resale points to book the stay and the points you use are deducted from the pool of points you designate at the time of booking (as well as the housekeeping & transaction credits). Once you book a stay, you can't change the designation of developer or resale for that stay, even by calling the reservation or owner resolutions departments (at least in my experience).
BTW, your 300,000 developer points does put you at "Bronze-level" VIP benefits, which is a 15% discount on bookings within 2 months and you're eligible for room upgrades, if available, within 15 days of check in. But the discount or room upgrade would not apply to any stays booked using resale points.
Is Worldmark a specific set of resorts within the Wyndham portfolio? The only difference between resale and retail points is you can't use resale points to book Worldmark and the points dont count towards VIP.
Worldmark & Wyndham are both owned by the same parent company, Travel & Leisure. Resale owners at Wyndham don’t have access to Worldmark and vice versa. Is Worldmark a specific set of resorts within the Wyndham portfolio?
CWA points, like points at all resorts, have access to every resort at 10 months. At 13 months, CWA points have access to the resorts that have CWA inventory, up to the amount of CWA inventory that resort has.Bear with me as I'm very slow when it comes to these things. CWA points can be used at any CWA resort, correct? Regardless of whether you buy resale or direct? And then I hadn't heard about the 13 vs 10 month window or home resorts for that matter. Is the 13 month window only available at your home resort? And 10 month window everywhere else?

Gotcha. Thanks for the explanation.CWA points, like points at all resorts, have access to every resort at 10 months. At 13 months, CWA points have access to the resorts that have CWA inventory, up to the amount of CWA inventory that resort has.
